OOB NEW MOON IN CANCER
emotionally intense…….to say the least
The New Moon will occur at 04°07’ Cancer, a Cardinal, Water sign, ruled by the Moon itself (antiscion 25°53’ Gemini).
The Moon, OOB, high in Northern declination (28°15’) and more inclined to be pro-active thus an exceptionally sensitive Moon given to out-of-character antics and also parallel Fixed Star Scheat – not the most fortunate of the Fixed Stars – which according to Ptolemy is of the nature of Mars and Mercury, this former planet already involved in the lunation as explained below.
New Moons are the moment we set our intentions for the month ahead regarding the house where the New Moon falls in our chart.
There are two on-going transiting yod formations in the New Moon chart, read on for more details.
The New Moon is separating from a close conjunction to Jupiter and the three planets are applying a sextile to Mars and separating from a square aspect to the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries. By means of the sextile to Mars they are also forming a Finger of God aspect with Pluto R.
The Elemental quality of the lunation chart propends towards a majority of planets in the Water Element with only one (Pluto) in the Air Element, we may let our emotions be our only guide towards a very disruptive future. Particularly so since the Modalities are very top-heavy Cardinal wise, we’re eager to forge ahead and get things done regardless.
Mars, which is always a planet to keep an eye on, has recently entered the sign of Virgo and is in a partile sextile with the New Moon itself and in a separating sextile from Jupiter. This sextile forms a yod with a Pluto R apex. Pluto is retrograde in the Fixed Air sign of Aquarius, a highly intellectual sign, associated, among other things, with internet and all things IT including Chatgpt and AI. Only Jupiter and the Moon have dignity in this rather weak sextile but the emotional energy Mars will receive could disrupt even further this peregrine planet. The Sun, also peregrine, is ruled by the Moon. Will the people finally be heard and have their way or at least their say? A yod is formed by two planets in sextile both quincunx to the apex planet. Quincunxes could be likened to having a pebble in your shoe, you try your best to wiggle your toes free but in the end you have to take off your shoe to get rid of the problem. Here, apex Pluto R will be activated possibly by the sextile it receives from the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries (ruled by Mars, heigh-ho). Our individual energies need to be focused (Saturn) as events which do not depend on ourselves (Neptune) make radical changes in the way we live and experience our everyday lives. There is also a second yod with Saturn-Neptune sextile Pluto and apex Mars. As push turns to shove between the planets involved in the sextile, Mars could suddenly lose all bearing and start slashing out against the collective influence of social groups so affected by Pluto now being in Aquarius. With yods however matters do not usually turn out the way we expected but head in a completely different direction. Try and keep as flexible as possible in the coming months as the outer planets, now all in new signs, but only for a short while, get the feel of things before the retrograde season begins (starting in a couple of weeks) and then we’ll be back to discomfort we know! The New Moon and Jupiter are also in a separating square from the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries (both ruled by Mars and in the triplicity of the Sun) further indicating a need for rules and regulations to be in place, even if still in an amorphous form (from the leaders, using force) and this will happen very quickly since all these five planets are in Cardinal signs.
Mercury is sextile Uranus with both planets at the end of the signs they are transiting, new solutions could suddenly appear, they may however affect our comfort zone and not be particularly to our liking.
Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phases” calls this the “Daughter’s Moon” and likens it to the myth of Demeter and her daughter Persephone who was abducted into the Underworld by Hades (Pluto). He therefore attributes painful conflicts with family members to this and all the other Cancer moon phases and on this Moon he recommends that we examine our relationships with close ones, especially those which involve nurturing received or given.
It falls on the 4th-10th house axis, the private vs public, mother vs father, fluidity vs rigidity etc.
This lunation will most involve those persons with planets or angles between 00°-09° of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn).
The Sabian symbol for 05° Cancer: “At a railroad crossing an automobile is wrecked by a train.” Indicating the tragic results which are likely to occur when the individual’s will pits itself carelessly against the power of the collective will of society.
For the antiscion at 26° Gemini: “Frost-covered trees against winter skies.” Indicating the revelation of archetypal form and essential rhythm od existence
“There’s nothing more fundamentally disruptive to the status quo than a new reality.” ~ Umair Haque
What intentions will you set for this New Moon?
