  • Full Moon in TaurusFULL MOON IN TAURUS

This could be an emotional roller coaster

There will be a Full Moon at 02°46’ Taurus (antiscion 27°14’ Leo) on the 25-26 October, only a few hours after Venus, the Moon’s dispositor, re-enters Libra (the other sign it rules) in its backward motion.

The Moon and Sun are in an applying Fixed T-Square with OOB Pluto. Fixed Modality, as per its name, indicates a stubbornness or a one-mindedness yet there are two rather volatile planets involved in the aspect, an exalted Moon in “I love my comforts” Taurus and “I’m hell-bent on keeping them”, and OOB Pluto known for its transformative effects, in Aquarius these regard social ambiences and group mindsets. As in all oppositions the Moon (people) and Sun (leaders) at the base of the T-square are at odds with each other, however, although the Sun is peregrine and has no dignity in the early degrees of Scorpio it is parallel Lunar North Node. Our leaders seem to be deeply involved (Scorpio) in plans for the future yet far less so on a practical level. The Sun is also in Mutual Reception with Mars as Mercury R prepares to square Mars, perhaps they will recur to the use of a sudden (Mercury contra-parallel Uranus R) show of force to impose their plans. Plugging into, and thus activating, the T-square is the ongoing trine from Uranus R to OOB Pluto and their reciprocate sextile to Neptune R. The hope of a social reform that will transform our lives in better or just wishful thinking that matters can be put right through social unrest?

Venus, dispositor of this lunation has just re-entered Libra (its other home sign) as it continues its backward journey. Perhaps underlining the necessity for harmony between all parts, a harmony however, that needs working on to fully understand (Venus R). Sun’s dispositor Mars, has recently left a trine aspect to Saturn R, some kind of pause in the hostilities has been called for but now Mars runs towards a conjunction to Jupiter and all hopes of restraint can be put aside.

The Modalities have a heavy emphasis on the Fixed signs (6 planets) with only one planet (Uranus R) in the Mutable modality, not wanting to budge from one’s own point of view or position yet needing to act (3 Cardinal) with little idea of how or where or when. The Elements have a lack of Earth whilst the other Elements are fairly well-balanced, this could indicate being too much involved with our own bodily comforts or not having a clue about putting ideas into practice.

Falling on the Taurus-Scorpio axis, 2-8 houses, the Moon-Sun opposition highlights our values vs the values we share with others, peace vs emotional storms, material comfort vs emotional drama etc.

Full Moons put the spotlight on the darker side of life, where we need to question our motivations and recognize if we are coming from a place of love for ourselves (Taurus) or suspicion and jealousy (Scorpio). It poses the question of what needs to be understood and transformed and what needs to be kept versus what we need to let go of. The Taurus-Scorpio axis with the Moon occurring in Taurus means that Scorpio is the dark side with all its trust issues and its penchant for drama and jealousy whilst Taurus indicates that awareness of love and comfort is the way out of Scorpio’s dilemma.

Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this Full Moon the

    “Earth Mother’s Moon”

According to him, it’s a time when we should take care of our body and the physical (not emotional) needs of others. We could ask ourselves on this Moon questions such as: “Am I eating healthily?”, “Do I need a medical check-up?”, “Am I sleeping enough?” “Do I feel good at skin-level with my clothes or does fashion prevail over my comfort?” “Am I getting enough hugs and regular body contact from my loved ones?” On this Moon we need to find the answers to the above questions and fix what is not working.

Most interested in this lunation will be those with planets or angles at 00-06° Taurus or Scorpio.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 03° Taurus: “Natural steps lead to a lawn of clover in bloom.” Indicating the gradual expansion of the individual consciousness after a fecundating experience.

For the antiscion point at 28° Leo: “Many little birds on a limb of a big tree.” Indicating a wide, and perhaps confusing, openness to a multiplicity of inspiring potentialities.

For the Sun at 03° Scorpio: “A house-raising party in a small village enlists the neighbours’ cooperation.” Indicating the feeling of community demonstrated in a basic joint effort.

“I know what I have given you…I do not know what you have received.” Antonio Porchia
