  • New Moon In LibraNEW MOON IN LIBRA

    forget love and peace….

The first of seven New Moons at 17° of their relative signs.

The New Moon will take place at 17°22’ Libra (antiscion 12°38’ Pisces)

In this degree of Libra, the Moon is peregrine and the Sun in Fall and both are applying a sextile aspect to Jupiter in Leo, it seems like some optimism in is in the air were it not that Jupiter is also applying a conjunction to Lunar South Node, is everyone hoping to return to the past?

Venus, in fall in Scorpio and retrograde, is dispositor of the lunation and the focal point of a Fixed T-square formation with an OOB Pluto R opposite Mars. Venus R and Uranus R are also contra-parallel to each other (similar to an opposition) and quincunx each other by longitude, Venus R is also exactly square to Mars. Our deep-seated values (Venus R in Scorpio) are under revision (Venus retrograde) and apparently not willingly up for actual change (Fixed T-square) although liberation (Venus c//Uranus R and also quincunx each other as well as Venus R square Mars) requires some kind of release or freedom from the status quo. Thus, with an explosive Mars-OOB Pluto R base of the T-square a huge power play with associated violence is not to be excluded.

The lunation chart itself is heavy in the Air and Fire Elements, scarce in Water and totally lacking Earth, looking ahead at the long-term solution with enthusiasm or intuition might be a good idea but without empathy or being grounded many long-term plans and ideas may flounder. There is only one planet in the Mutable modality (Uranus R) showing that flexibility and quick thinking may also be lacking whilst stubbornness (Fixed modality) and the urge to move ahead whatever (Cardinal modality) abound.

This New Moon falls on the 7th-1st house axis which is about relating to others on a personal basis versus relating to self and trying to find the right balance between the two (which is also about Libra too).

Author, Raven Kaldera, in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this Moon the “White Knight’s Moon” and describes it as putting the focus on justice and discerning right from wrong and according to him this Moon is a great time to examine our ideals and adjust them if necessary.

The Sabian symbol for 18° Libra: “Two men placed under arrest.” Indicating a breakdown in the constructive relationship between the individual and society, and the expectable result.

For the antiscion at 13° Pisces: “An ancient sword, used in many battles, is displayed in a museum.” Indicating that through the effective use of his will a consecrated man can become a symbol of courage for all those who follow in his footsteps.

And, since Libra is also the sign of indecision and trying to please:

“Those are my principles. If you don’t like them, I have others.” Groucho Marx
