OOB FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS tell me your truth….
There will be a full Moon at 09°56’ of Sagittarius, a Mutable Fire sign (antiscion 20°04’ Capricorn) which will also be OOB. This is the second Full Moon of the month of May and known by some astrologers as a “Blue Moon”. The Sagittarius Moon is usually a jovial, quest-searching entity that desires, above all, truth and something to believe in. It also loves freedom and is easily motivated.
Full Moons are times of harvest, the climax of the lunar cycle when energy is at its topmost…and we would do well to recognize this fact…that it can’t get any better (or worse) than this regarding whatever intentions we set on the previous New Moon.
The lunation chart has only one planet (Mars) in the Earth element making practicality perhaps a lesser option, there are four planets each in the Cardinal and Mutable modalities and only two in the Fixed, that at least should provide some action as well a room to work with.
Gemini Suns are information vampires and divulgators; any info will do just so long as they can pass it around. Sagittarius Moons are pickier with the information they give out, first they need to know which side the truth lies on and if they can trust the source the information came from. Since Full Moons occur when the Sun and Moon oppose each other it is therefore during this time that we may feel tension in regard to integrating the matters of the houses that are facing each other.
The OOB Moon is quincunx a debilitated Mars in Taurus, we may be called to stubbornly act on a gut instinct without really thinking things over and with an exalted Jupiter as Moon’s dispositor we may be feeling a little bit too over-confident. The enthusiasm however could be curbed a little by the Moon applying a trine aspect to Saturn. An OOB Venus is also applying a wide conjunction to Jupiter adding some optimism to the mix. Sun (our leaders) is separating from a conjunction to Uranus and both are trine Pluto (Sun separating, Uranus applying) sudden corrective changes to power plans may still be in the making with no particular direction in mind (Uranus applying a sextile to Neptune). OOB Mercury (dispositor of the Sun) is almost at the end of its home sign in Gemini, giving probably the best of its trickster characteristics particularly since it is not making or receiving any Ptolemaic aspects and is, so to speak, left to its own devices as far as entertainment is concerned.
There is an ongoing yod formation, Neptune sextile Pluto with apex South Node (ruled by OOB Mercury) – dissolution (Neptune) of power (Pluto) as the old (South Node) is transformed and left behind. Activating the yod is Uranus via a square aspect to the nodal axis as well as a trine to Pluto and a sextile to Neptune. Changes will occur suddenly and without warning and will be definitely mind-blowing.
Moon is conjoined Fixed Star Antares, danger of violence with the ending of a cycle and Sun is conjunct Fixed Star Aldebaran, a positive start or loss of riches and disgrace.
If the Full Moon aspects a natal planet then it urges us to reflect upon how we are presently using that planetary energy and how we could devise plans to act upon and thus set our intentions for the next New Moon regarding any changes we might deem necessary. Or, we may sense internally or be alerted through external happenings regarding the outcome of the intentions we set on the previous New Moon.
This Full Moon falls on the 9th-3rd axis in the zodiac wheel. It’s about wisdom vs knowledge, intuition vs reason, long vs short journeys, morality vs amorality etc. If you have planets or angles at 05-14° of the Mutable signs of Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo or Pisces then this Full Moon could have a bigger influence for you. Nevertheless, it will illuminate an area of our lives that we may have preferred to have kept hidden since the last New Moon, now is the right occasion to explore it more deeply.
Raven Kaldera, in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this the Priest’s Moon, “he who has acquired knowledge through the channel of the sacred texts and traditions that he has learned and who is now ready to dedicate himself to the Truth (as he sees it).”
On this Moon he suggests “that we reflect about the traditions and beliefs we hold (religious or otherwise) and if we are able to objectively question them. If we think that we hold no fixed beliefs, then maybe we could ask our friends if they think that this it true and be ready to listen carefully to their answers about ourselves.”
The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 10° Sagittarius: “A theatrical representation of a golden-haired goddess of opportunity.” Indicating society’s effect at dramatizing the greatness of what if offers to the ambitious person.
For the antiscion at 21° Capricorn: “A relay race.” Indicating the value of competition in developing group-consciousness.
For the Sun at 10° Gemini: “An airplane performing a nose-dive.” Indicating a superior ability to challenge nature and play with danger.
“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” George Orwell
