  • Full Moon in CapOOB FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN

The OOB Full Moon will occur at 18°49’ in the serious, ambitious sign of Capricorn (antiscion 11°11’ Sagittarius) and has the flavour of the 4th-10th house axis (Cancer-Capricorn), the intimate versus the public, home versus work/career, fluidity versus rigidity etc.

An emotionally dry Moon in Capricorn with its dispositor Saturn about to station retrograde in only a couple of days’ time in the fiery sign of Aries where Saturn is in its fall making for a poorly functioning planet with a tendency to exasperate his worser traits. Saturn is conjunct a retrograde Neptune and sextile both Uranus and Pluto which are in a trine aspect to each other. A sudden (Uranus) dissolution (Neptune) of the rules (Saturn) which might involve warfare (Aries) with the possibility of a huge transformation (Pluto) at a social level (Aquarius).

The Moon itself is separating from a trine aspect to Mars in Virgo, perhaps it got a little too wrapped up in the details and this held back its Virgoan attitude to be of help and of course, being OOB and high in the Southern declination it becomes unpredictable and more concentrated on the self and what makes it feel good. Its next aspect is a sextile to the North Node ruled by Jupiter now transiting the sign of the Moon. Perhaps there is a way forward that will be beneficial to the people. The Sun in this lunation is disposed by the Moon and has no essential dignity in Cancer, it is peregrine and unsure how to proceed without listening to the people.

The lunation chart has several planets involved with the Fixed Stars:

Moon//Antares – one of the four Royal Stars and of the nature of Mars and Jupiter, it often indicates a time of moving on since cycles are ending.

Mars//Betelgeuse – of the nature of Mars and Mercury it gives good leadership qualities using caution and reserve.

Uranus conjunct Alcyone – of the nature of Mars and Moon it gives ambition often with consequent delusion and regret.

Pluto conjunct Altair – of the nature of Mars and Jupiter it also gives ambition but honors conferred may not be long-lasting.

The lunation chart has a fair balance between Elements but there is a predominance of the Cardinal Modality, action is needed and can’t be put off.

The Full Moon is also the time to reap rewards for past endeavors, things undertaken at the last New Moon. It signals the climax of a cycle when our energy is at its peak and when the time is ripe for the harvest.

Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this moon the “Grandmother’s Moon”. The Grandmother is the head of her family, clan or tribe and she rules all blood relatives and cares for them intensely.

Under this Moon we may feel older, wiser and a little more rigid, it’s the destiny of Capricorn to embody maturity and this Full Moon is the archetype of the Elder in all her fullness.

So, under this Moon we may honour our family elders (both living and dead) and our focus will turn to our close relatives. It’s a time to get organized and to take responsibility also at an emotional level.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 19° Capricorn: “A five-year-old child carrying a bag filled with groceries.” Indicates rising to the occasion when asked to assume social responsibilities ahead of one’s normal development.

For the Moon’s antiscion at 12° Sagittarius: “A flag turns into an eagle, the eagle into a chanticleer saluting the dawn.” Indicating the spiritualization and promotion of great symbols of a New Age by minds sensitive to its precursory manifestations.

For the Sun at 19° Cancer: “A priest performing a marriage ceremony.” Indicating the ritualization of productive interpersonal relationships.

“Dispassionate objectivity is itself a passion, for the real and for the truth.” Abraham Maslow
