• NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS 11TH DECEMBER 2015

  • new moonThe New Moon occurs at 19°3’ of Sagittarius and is the second of four new Moons in a row at this degree of the relative zodiacal signs. So look for planets and angles that get highlighted by these degrees. Particularly in the Mutable signs of Gemini-Virgo-Sagittarius-Pisces. On New Moons we set our intentions for the month ahead and this one in particular offers the Sagittarian perspective on our destiny and our relationship with the universe.

The New Moon is on the 9th-3rd (Sagittarius-Gemini) axis of the traditional zodiac and involves such matters as; seeing the whole picture vs only having scattered information, intuition vs reason, long vs short journeys, morality vs amorality, wisdom vs knowledge etc.

Sagittarius is a Fire sign and Gemini is an Air sign yet they both belong to the Mutable modality in which flexibility is the key word. Sagittarius deals with more intuitive and abstract thought processes whilst Gemini has a more analytical and concrete view of the world. Both houses are involved with learning and teaching but from different perspectives.

In his book “Moon Phase Astrology” author Raven Kaldera calls this Moon “the Gypsy’s Moon”. On this Moon he invites us to go out and experience new cultures and ideas, with the aim of stretching our abilities to accept all things foreign in order to challenge ourselves and our own prejudices. What better way to do this than travelling which can provide excellent points of view upon which to reflect when the journey is over. Rather than just reading about new places it would be better to experience these in person on your own skin to as to say.

Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, in transit in the sign of Virgo, finds itself in a square aspect to this New Moon hinting that we need to be more careful when discerning facts from non-facts and since squares are road blocks that force us to rethink our strategies, getting rid of the false whilst showing us that worry and anxiety are only a waste of energy and that we need to act by envisioning a solution and working on it.

Chiron, transiting in the sign of Pisces, is also in a square aspect to this New Moon and in opposition to Jupiter forming a transiting T-square in the Mutable signs. Perhaps the time has come to rethink our deepest beliefs and trust in our inner-knowledge as opposed to following habits and traditions that have been blindly passed down through the ages (remember that at one time people believed that the Earth was flat and now we know that’s not true, so things and perspectives can change over time).
