• NEW MOON IN LIBRA ON 9TH OCTOBER 2018 (GMT)

  • something may be boiling under the surface and we may not see it

There will be a New Moon at 15°48’ Libra on the 9th October.

Being in Libra, this will be all about relationships and fairness. And, being a New Moon of course it could be the start of a new relationship for some or a new beginning in an existing or ex relationship for others but it could also be about any kind of relationship depending on the house where it falls in your chart and the aspect it may or may not make to any personal planets or angles. It could also be a good time to see things from the other person’s point of view, not only what might be missing from the relationship for it to be good for you but also about what you’re bringing to the relationship too…remember, Libra is about fairness and harmony with an almost exaggerated sense of wanting to please at all costs since rocking the boat would make us lose our balance and poise.

However this New Moon has transiting Neptune exactly on its antiscion point (this acts like a conjunction) so we have to factor in a rather rose-coloured, other-worldly hue to the Libran diplomacy, a too good to be true feature. The lunation also squares transiting Pluto in Capricorn possibly bringing up power struggles in our false Paradise and certainly taking away some of the lustre. Last, but not least, Venus, ruler of Libra (and Taurus) is pulling up the mud from the bottom of the pond as it wades its way backwards through Scorpio (a Mars ruled sign) and also squares Mars in Aquarius. Ex-lovers or new partners may float up to the surface in a wilful and passionate way, will we succumb to their savoir-faire or, if they are on the return bound, will we remember exactly what went wrong and why (and precisely what part we had in this and also perhaps the hurt too)? Being fair is one thing, falling for a bad deal the second time around not so.

“All charming people have something to conceal, usually their total dependence on the appreciation of others.” Cyril Connolly

New Moons are great times to set your intentions about projects to undertake during the month to come so try to take some quiet time to think about what you would like or need to change in the matters of the house where this lunation takes place in your chart.

The New Moon falls on the 7-1st axis (Aries-Libra) in traditional astrology: the us vs I, compromise vs assertion, relationship vs independence etc. Most affected by this New Moon are those people with planets or angles between 25-29° in the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

Author, Raven Kaldera, in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this Moon the

    “White Knight’s Moon”

he describes it as putting the focus on justice and discerning right from wrong and according to him this Moon is a great time to examine our ideals and adjust them if necessary.

The Sabian symbol for 16° Libra: “After a storm a boat landing stands in need of reconstruction.” Indicating the need to keep in operation steady links between the vast Unconsciousness and the ego-consciousness.

For the antiscion at 15° Pisces: “An Officer instructing his men before a simulated assault under a barrage of live shells.” Indicating the need for thorough rehearsing before any complex and inherently dangerous social ritual in which power is used or evoked.

And on this New Moon let’s remember:

“You don’t get harmony when everybody sings the same note” Doug Floyd

What do you expect from this New Moon? What intentions are you going to set?
