• NEW MOON IN CANCER ON 9-10 JULY 2021

  • New Moon in Cancer (18°01′) a Cardinal, Water sign, ruled by the Moon itself (antiscion 11°59’ Gemini).

The Moon will also be OOB, an exceptionally sensitive Moon…emotionally intense…….

New Moons are the moment we set our intentions for the month ahead regarding the house where the New Moon falls in our chart.

The New Moon will be separating from a sextile to Uranus, applying a trine to Neptune R and also an opposition to Pluto R. Unsettled feelings concerning relationships will probably occur in the days coming up to the lunation quickly followed by confusion and/or illusion and then we may have to contend with an emotional power struggle of some kind.

Adding to this unnerving, highly unstable emotional situation is the antiscion Venus-Uranus also occurring in the days surrounding the New Moon.

There will also be a majority of planets in the Water signs underscoring once again the emotional nature of this lunation.

Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phases” calls this the “Daughter’s Moon” and likens it to the myth of Demeter and her daughter Persephone who was abducted into the Underworld by Hades (Pluto). He therefore attributes painful conflicts with family members to this and all the other Cancer moon phases and on this Moon he recommends that we examine our relationships with close ones, especially those which involve nurturing received or given.

It falls on the 4th-10th house axis in traditional astrology, the private vs public, mother vs father, fluidity vs rigidity etc.

This lunation will most involve those persons with planets or angles between 16-20° of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn).

The Sabian symbol for 19° Cancer: “A priest performing a marriage ceremony.” Indicating the ritualisation of productive interpersonal relationships.

For the antiscion at 12° Gemini: “A girl of colour, fights for her independence in the city.” Indicating liberation from the ghosts of the past.

“I can only note that the past is beautiful because one never realises an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don’t have complete emotions about the present, only about the past.”  V. Woolf

What intentions will you set for this New Moon?
