NEPTUNE STATIONS RETROGRADE IN ARIES
Neptune is said to be the higher octave of Venus and within hours of each other, first Venus leaves the sign of her dignity and enters Gemini where she will be peregrine for the most part of the stay there, Neptune then turns retrograde. So, two planets with a supposedly similar essence make a major game change on the same day.
On 30 March Neptune made its first timid entrance into the sign of Aries after being in Pisces since 2011. Neptune will begin its annual 5-month retrograde period on 4 July at 02°10’ Aries (antiscion 27°50’ Virgo) and will remain in Aries until 22 October when it re-enters Pisces once more and lingers at 29° Pisces from late October to late January 2026! Giving the best and the worst of its characteristics in this sign.
From my article in late March about Neptune’s brief ingress into Aries:
What can we expect now with Neptune transiting Aries from 2025 until 2039? Probably (as already is happening in many parts of the world) – warfare, less from the seas and more from the air in the like of small aircrafts and drones. Some may believe this to be the only way to obtain their ideals. We may also see other wars of a religious nature or people wanting to be free from tyranny but Neptune dissolves slowly yet steadily, no solutions are on hand immediately in this scenario.
Since Neptune also rules poisons, viruses, contamination of various nature and disease in general we may also expect water pollution (intentional probably with Aries involved) or biological warfare hidden under the name of epidemies etc.
On a more personal level we may be more courageous and passionate in stating and fighting for our ideals, or our energy could be very scattered as the warrior loses his strength. As always, many possibilities always come with a planetary sign change.
Some of the above have already come to pass and are continuing, will the return of Neptune to Pisces bring more deception and tears?
And of course, not without consequence on the effects of Neptune in Aries during the early part of the sojourn will certainly be the subsequent ingress of Saturn into Aries on the 24/25 May. This closeness of the two planets will also continue when both planets go through their retrograde periods – Saturn turns retrograde on 12-13 July. Although both planets will be in a tight orb of conjunction from May to August this year, the exactness will be reached only on 20 February 2026 at 00°45’ Aries when both planets have entered the sign to stay. Saturn, in fall in Aries, and thus more inclined to be “strict” if not “nasty” could lead to self-assertion and aggression at any cost but also to fear of defeat. That however will be the topic of another post later on this year!
When Neptune turns retrograde, the inner structures that are undergoing dissolution and change are more easily brought to the attention of our mind allowing us to review our blind-spots and uncover more hidden motives for our discomfort within the reality of the house it is transiting. We may even uncover parts of ourselves that need more nurturing and compassion rather than change.
As we know, constructive change is made only by conscious effort in an already self-aware person, without this effort very little change can in fact occur.
For some people, a Neptune retrograde could imbue a greater need for privacy and seclusion and even withdrawal than when the planet is direct owing to the fact that introspection is emphasized.
This period, for others, could indicate a greater danger of taking refuge in escapist tendencies which might involve alcohol or drugs since emotional vulnerability is enhanced.
Aspects to any planets or angles made by Neptune should give clues as to how each one of us might handle this retrograde period as will the house where the transit is occurring.
However, tapping into our imagination, strengthening our powers of visualization and imagery by allowing inspiration through creative activities and relaxation could lead us to greater awareness of our latent talents and abilities.
Wherever Neptune is transiting in our charts we should try to use visual imagination to picture ourselves functioning well and capably in the matters of that house. We should endeavour to integrate our senses and emotions with our physical bodies so that this imagery that we are visualizing is able to transform our reality.
As we go along in this manner, we need to continually check on our inner self that we really do desire the experience we are imagining with the awareness that if we rehearse it often enough it just may become reality.
The Sabian symbol for the retrograde station at 3° Aries: “The cameo profile of a man, suggesting the shape of his country.” Indicating the sustaining power of the Whole, as the individual identifies himself with his life.
For the antiscion point at 28° Virgo: “A bald-headed man who has seized power.” Indicating the sheer power of personality in time that call for decision.
Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime.” E. Hemingway, 1946
