FULL MOON IN LEO 24TH JANUARY 2016

There will be a Full Moon at 3°29’ Leo on the 24^th of January. Leo is a Fixed, Fire sign. In traditional astrology Leo governs the 5^th house, so this Full Moon operates on the 5^th-11^th house axis (Leo-Aquarius): the things we create for our own personal satisfaction (including our children) vs our group efforts, the artist vs the scientist, the autocrat vs the democrat etc.

Full Moons are also known to be times when things climax, when we decide that enough is enough for certain aspects of our life because we avert an intensified conflict between two major areas of our life and we need to find a way to honour both. They shine a light on the area that is “hidden” and in this case, in traditional astrology, all matters concerning the 5th house and the sign of Leo. This is certainly more evident when the Full Moon closely aspects any personal planets or angles in your chart and it also depends on the houses involved in your individual chart.

Author, Raven Kaldera, in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this Full Moon “The Queen’s Moon” and he encourages us to take charge of a situation or become leader for a day or failing this to do something nice for a woman who is in a position of power in public life.

A Full Moon in Leo could also give us a transient emotional mood for extravagance or for showing off!!

The Sabian symbol for the Moon at Leo 4° is “A formally dressed elderly man stands near trophies he brought back from a hunting expedition”.  This symbol is to be interpreted at a strictly social level with the man being proud of his actions and wanting to show his trophies to his peers.

The Sabian symbol for the Sun at Aquarius 4° is “A Hindu Yogi demonstrates his healing powers”. The interpretation is that it is the spiritual duty of individuals who have been able to tap the vast reservoir of spiritual forces pervading our planet to use these energies to heal their less-fortunate comrades.

The day after the Full Moon (January 25^th) Mercury ends its current retrograde cycle by stationing direct at 14°55’ in the sign of Capricorn reminding us that thoughts and words create reality.
