• FULL MOON IN CANCER ON 12TH JANUARY 2017

  • sedna-by-susan-seddon-bouletOn the 12th there will be a Full Moon at 22°27’ Cancer.

Full Moons are when matters climax, they are “now or never” moments regarding any projects we have initiated or intentions set at the preceding New Moon fourteen days ago.

This Full Moon falls on the traditional 10th-4th axis, work vs home, public vs private, one parent vs another, rigidity vs flexibility etc. It will have major impact on those with planets or angles between 20-24° of the Cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra, Capricorn and Aries

In his book “Moon Phase Astrology”, author Raven Kaldera calls this the “Sea Mother’s Moon”, he recognizes it as a capricious Moon that contemporarily loves and loathes.

The Sun and Moon, in their polarity, form a Grand Cross in the Cardinal signs with the Sun pairing up with Pluto in Capricorn opposing the Moon in Cancer and both squaring the opposition formed by Jupiter in Libra with Uranus in Aries.

This is a lot of very impatient and assertive energy at hand which could lead to recklessness and accident-proneness so we really need to harness it in a very responsible way, moreover so because Cardinal energy is high and volatile but rarely long lasting thus the probability of a lack of staying power in our endeavours. Self-control and stamina will see us through if we realize the importance of the need to consider and cooperate with others in order to obtain success in our personal objectives.

Relationships could undergo sudden and unexpected vicissitudes calling for fast and decisive actions under the on-going Jupiter-Uranus (Libra-Aries) opposition which continues to be in force for still a while longer until the end of January to repeat again end September/beginning October 2017. Although the Venus-Neptune conjunction in Pisces could soften the effect as our hearts open towards the less fortunate. We will enjoy a lot of Piscean energy until almost the end of January with South Node, Venus, Neptune, Mars and Chiron all transiting this sign, so “compassion” may also be a key word this month.

I find the Sabian symbols particularly eloquent for the type of energy we will be offered by this Full Moon and the Grand Cross:

The Sabian symbol for the Moon 23° Cancer: The meeting of a literary society.” Indicating an objective and critical approach to the common factors in our culture and to its psychological problems.

For the Sun at 23° Capricorn: “A soldier receiving two awards for bravery in combat.” Indicating the reward offered by society for the fulfilment of individual responsibility.

“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.”  Eleanor Roosevelt
