  • Full Moon in TaurusFULL MOON AND TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE IN TAURUS

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” N.D. Walsch

The lunation and eclipse will occur at 16°00’ Taurus (antiscion 14°00’ Leo) on the day of the midterm elections in the US.

The Full Moon and total Lunar eclipse will be visible partially or totally in the following areas of the world: North/East Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, much of South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica (1).

The Moon is sandwiched between a retrograde Uranus and the North Lunar node whilst opposing a Sun also part of a “sandwich” between South Lunar Node, Mercury and Venus. Both luminaries and accompanying planets form a Fixed modality T-square with a Saturn apex.

Venus, the Moon’s dispositor is combust and the Sun’s dispositor, Mars has recently turned retrograde in Gemini and is applying a square aspect to both Jupiter R and Neptune in Pisces whilst Venus is trining Jupiter R and Neptune.

The people (Moon) seem to want to follow their destiny (North Lunar Node) but perhaps aren’t prepared for the bumpy ride provided by Uranus that will certainly take them out of their comfort zone (Taurus). The “leaders/governments” are trying on some psychological games (Scorpio) as they try to put things nicely (Venus-Mercury) whilst hanging on to an outdated past (South Lunar Node) that will soon be blown away (opposition to Moon-Uranus), like it or not. The T-Square to Saturn demands inflexibility and stubbornness in the quest for social reform which needs to be done in the right way. This outlook is further confirmed by the striking number of parallels in this lunation;  Venus//Sun//Saturn//Mercury all c//Uranus//Moon and the ever-present Mars c//Pluto, traditional and modern rulers of Scorpio in a disturbing “opposition” aspect by declination. However, adding to the confusion is the trine to Neptune in Pisces from the Scorpio stellium – telling lies is easy!! And the sextile from the Taurus planets to that same Neptune could indicate that we might be fooled for a little while longer, since Jupiter, now in Pisces but still retrograde and conjunct Neptune, could inflate any mistruths. Also, the ongoing mutual reception between Mars in Gemini and Mercury in Scorpio is still yet more fuel to the fire.

The Elemental imbalance with a heavy Water emphasis makes this a really emotional lunation and the 6 planets in the Fixed Modality underscore the stubbornness.

This Lunar Eclipse is of the same Saros series 6 South as the preceding Solar Eclipse 15 days ago and, according to Bernadette Brady, harks at “being forceful and taking power. It has a manic flavour to it and there will be a great show of strength.”

The eclipse/Full Moon falls on the Taurus-Scorpio axis, 2-8 houses, our values vs the values we share with others, peace vs emotional storms, material comfort vs emotional drama etc and particularly involved are those with 14-18° of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) highlighted in their charts.

The last time there was a Lunar Eclipse at 16° Taurus was on the 9 November 2003.

What was happening in your life then?

Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this Full Moon “the Earth Mother’s Moon”. According to him, it’s a time when we should take care of our body and the physical (not emotional) needs of others. We could ask ourselves on this Moon questions such as: “Am I eating healthily?”, “Do I need a medical check-up?”, “Am I sleeping enough?” “Do I feel good at skin-level with my clothes or does fashion prevail over my comfort?” “Am I getting enough hugs and regular body contact from my loved ones?” On this Moon we need to find the answers to the above questions and fix what is not working.

The Sabian symbol for 17° Taurus: “A symbolic battle between “swords” and “torches”.” Indicating the refusal to depend upon the past, the seeker turns warrior, fighting anew the eternal “Great War”.

For the antiscion at 15° Leo: “A pageant, with its spectacular floats, moves along a street crowded with cheering people.” Indicating the more or less sensational release of energies in a form dramatizing the unconscious aspirations of man’s primitive and instinctual nature.

For the Sun at 17° Scorpio: “A woman, fecundated by her own spirit, is “great with child”.” Indicating a total reliance upon the dictates of the God within.

“Don’t apologize for showing morals, respect, discipline, and being genuine.” Wazim Shaw
