FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS One for all and all for one…or is it?
This Full Moon occurs at 06°30’ Aquarius (antiscion 23°30’ Scorpio), a Fixed, Air sign ruled by Saturn (traditional ruler) and Uranus (modern ruler).
Full Moons are times of harvest and completion
when things concerning the house in the natal chart with Aquarius on its cusp can’t possibly get any better nor any worse for that matter.
Aquarius is the sign of friendship and group activity it’s about being independent and inventive whilst being part of a larger group of like-minded people as we work towards a common goal.
The Full Moon falls on the 11th-5th – Aquarius-Leo – axis in the zodiac so whilst the Moon is illuminating our friendship zone the Sun in Leo is shining in our house of individuality wanting us to sparkle on our own…will we be able to find a compromise between the two?
The lunation chart is heavy in Mutable and Fixed modalities but only has one planet in the Cardinal modality (Mercury), the way forward seems straightforward and allows no deviations from the decided path but there is little energy to get things going. The Elements have four planets each in Air and Fire but only one each in Earth and Water, great ideas and intuition but little practicality or empathy.
Being a sign (Aquarius) with two rulers then we might say that the Moon’s passage in this sign could result in two different types of reactions: Moon-Saturn is notoriously a combination where our feelings are more than dampened and when we are given the opportunity to take a harsh look at where we’re putting them and perhaps why. These thoughts can also manifest as a sinking or generally depressed feeling. Moon-Uranus is a jump-start to our emotions with perhaps lightening mood changes and wanting to belong but at the same time to be alone or independent from others emotionally, the “I’m yours but don’t get too close type of feeling!”
Dispositor Saturn turned retrograde only a couple of days ago and is also weakened by its debilitation (fall) in the sign of Aries where it is now transiting so not much help from that front for the people, if not to imbue even more fear of fighting. The square to Saturn from Mercury was exact in June and is no longer effective since it is now separating. The Moon is separating from a trine aspect to Uranus which is also involved in the Uranus-Pluto trine with both planets sextile Neptune (already discussed in several recent posts).
Moon, however, is also separating from a conjunction to Pluto and this could have caused great upheaval and sorrow for the people particularly since Sun is in a partile conjunction to Jupiter and both are separating from an opposition to Pluto and Moon. The words of Shaggy’s 1995 hit come to mind “bombastic mega-fantastic” – not so unfortunately – these aspects describe a super ego with far too much power capable of destroying whatever or whoever at will. War plans will also be made very hastily with Mars c/parallel Pluto, Jupiter parallel Mercury and Moon c/parallel Uranus (the people are taken by surprise). Venus and Mars are also exactly square each other in the Air signs – relationships are intellectually charged as Venus studies the rules and Mars runs off on too many tangents.
Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this Full Moon phase “the Friendship Moon” and he invites us to hang out with our friends during this period, asking others and ourselves just what value friendship has for us in our lives.
The Sabian Symbol for the for the Full Moon at 07° Aquarius: “A child is seen being born out of an egg.” Indicating the emergence of new mutations according to the great rhythms of the cosmos.

For the Sun at 07° Leo: “The constellations of stars shine brilliantly in the night sky.” Indicating the power of basic spiritual values which refer to man’s common humanity and to all enduring archetypes.
“We are set in our ways, bound by our perspectives and stuck in our thinking.” Joel Osteen
