• NEW MOON IN VIRGO ON 6-7 SEPTEMBER 2021

  • NEW MOON IN VIRGO

Are all the details out in the open?

On the 6-7th of this month (depending in which part of the world you are) there will be a New Moon at 14°38’ Virgo, a Mutable, Earth sign ruled by Mercury (antiscion 15°22’ Aries).

A lunation chart heavy in Air and Earth element with no planets in Fire and only one in Water. Planning ahead in a practical way with no illusions and even less enthusiasm and intuition. The Modalities are well balanced in this chart.

The New Moon is exactly trine retrograde Uranus in Taurus and quickly approaching an opposition to Neptune, also retrograde, in Pisces. A desire for personal and emotional freedom requiring detailed planning that Neptune clouds and blurs giving perhaps a false confidence when we need to be more wary.

Mercury, dispositor of the lunation, is on a long haul through Libra and separating from a trine aspect to Saturn retrograde in Aquarius, serious thinking with an eye on social reform and free speech may have been on our minds during the period prior to the New Moon but Mercury during the lunation is also on Fixed Star Vindemiatrix which is often associated with separation, lies, gullibility and shame.

The house axis involved in this lunation is the 6th-12th, Virgo-Pisces involving such matters as discrimination vs universality, order vs chaos and criticism vs compassion. The New Moon will involve those persons with planets/angles between 12-17° of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces).

New Moons are times when the Sun and Moon are conjoined in the identical degree of the same sign and this causes the Moon to remain hidden from our view.

It’s a great moment to set intentions for the coming month regarding the matters of the house where it falls in our natal chart. These lunations can be seen as moments of “seeding”.

“The New Moon, of course, is in the sign of the Sun, and the double emphasis on that sign is said to have meaning in terms of what we experience that month. The Sun’s sign now given extra emphasis by the addition of the Moon, is a seasonal theme.” Author M.K. Simms reminds us in her book “Moon Tides, Soul Passages.

Whilst astrologer Raven Kaldera calls this the

    “Maiden’s Moon”

during which we are invited to search solace in solitude rather than desperately trying to fill the room with other auras.

In Virgo, the New Moon focusses on our welfare (both physical and mental) and asks us to choose between what nurtures us and what harms or poisons us (Neptune) giving order to the chaos (Pisces) that surrounds us.

The Sabian symbol for 15° Virgo: “A fine lace handkerchief, heirloom from valorous ancestors.” Indicating the quintessence of deeds well done.

For the antiscion at 16° Aries: “Nature spirits are seen at work in the light of sunset.” Indicating attunement to the potency of invisible forces of nature.

“People don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed”. F. Nietszche

What are your intentions for this New Moon?
