• MARS STATIONS DIRECT ON 14 NOVEMBER 2020 (GMT)

  • Ommmmmmmmm…….

Mars will station direct at 15°13’ Aries (antiscion 14°47’ Virgo) and will leave Aries on 7th January for the sign of Taurus.

The retrograde period showed us all a rather confused Mars, lashing out in anger and violence, perhaps a little blindly and in a rather childish manner not sure who or what exactly was the enemy to overcome.

Now about to move forward, Mars is at its best in its home sign of Aries. In the Mars station direct chart we have Mercury, Moon and Sun in Scorpio, the other Mars ruled sign. Mercury and Moon are applying an opposition to Uranus in Taurus, it’s a very volatile situation.

Mars is a fighter, the “me first, who cares about the others” type of actor. And this could lead to a continuation of misplaced anger and sudden violence reaching a peak around the week preceding the 23rd of December when Mars will be in an exact square to Pluto (23°54’).

Mars doesn’t want restrictions of any kind, willingly lending itself to social unrest and protests which are constantly flaring up around the world. These protests aren’t only about racial or gender equality they are also about social equality in general and the fair distribution of wealth at a global level especially now with so many people jobless due to the pandemic and lock downs being the order of the day in almost all the countries in the Northern Hemisphere.

We must get through this together, no one can do it on their own, energy needs to be directed and controlled in order to be effective.

In the natal theme Mars represents our basic drive, our energy, the way we act thus our assertiveness and our anger.

We experience our first Mars return at age 2 years and this is when we learn to assert ourselves by saying “NO” to everything and everyone. It is at this age that we learn how to control our Mars function or not if no-one is there to direct our assertiveness into the right channels.

If for some reason we are unable to learn how to positively express our Mars energy, especially anger, then we could experience angry people and situations showing up in our lives with us being the victim.

As astrologer Johanna Mitchell wrote* “Fire is warm and comforting in the fireplace; if a sparks leaps onto the carpet, however, there’s a potential for disaster. Learning to be alive (through our Mars) does not mean burning the house down.”

Certainly Mars will not only be travelling through a certain house in your natal chart but it will almost certainly be making some major aspects (conjunction in Aries), opposition (in Libra), square (signs of Cancer and Capricorn), trine (signs of Leo and Sagittarius) to other planets and angles in your chart on his journey. Worthy of keeping an eye on, also the house cusps ruled by Mars in your chart (the signs of Aries and Scorpio). It would be interesting to see how this transit affects each of us and this is also an excellent way to better understand the workings of the planet in our real and everyday life.

I have this transit in my 6th natal house which it rules together with my Ascendant. I was expecting and fearing some inflammation or ailment of sorts but instead, during the retrograde period, I exhausted myself by clearing out a lot of things from the house which I had been putting off for ages and I’m quite thrilled that I’ve finally got it done! So, perhaps some aches and pains did appear but I was too busy to take much notice of them and of course it’s not over yet!

The Sabian symbol for 16° Aries: “Nature spirits are seen at work in the light of sunset.” Indicating attunement to the potency of invisible forces of nature.

For the antiscion point at 15° Virgo: “A fine lace handkerchief, heirloom from valorous ancestors.” Indicating the quintessence of deeds well done.

“The struggles we endure today will be the ‘good old days’ we laugh about tomorrow.”
