NEW MOON IN TAURUS 23 APRIL 2020 (GMT)

feeling comfortable isn’t always the best thing….

It’s time to set your intentions for the New Moon at 3°24’ Taurus (antiscion 26°36’ Leo) that will occur on the 23^rd of April. The Moon is exalted in this Venus-ruled, Fixed Earth sign.

A tight applying conjunction to Uranus will add volatility to this Fixed sign lunation, the dispositor of which, rules, among other matters, finances, so expect more disturbing events in the global stock markets as well as news of earthquakes around the world too (Taurus is a Fixed, Earth sign). The stock markets have had a recent, albeit brief, respite from the heavy losses curtailed by the recent and now separating square between the New Moon and Saturn only to follow with new fluctuations in the day following as the planets involved in the lunation conjoin Uranus one after the other.

Venus (very OOB at 27° N), the New Moon’s dispositor, is in social Gemini applying a trine aspect to Mars in Aquarius, two Air signs which are hot and moist by nature. Perhaps we may want to overlook our fellows’ break for freedom (from isolation) as we too are tempted to override restrictions and get out of the house to enjoy the warm weather and the company!

Gemini Venus’s penchant for flirting easily mixes (the trine aspect) with Mars in Aquarius, which I liken to a “man on a mission”, and this will certainly increase the desire for further social contacts of a more intimate nature (perhaps producing more Aquarians!).

The upcoming transiting square between Mercury in fiery Aries and an almost stationary Pluto quickly followed by a square to Jupiter, both in earthy Capricorn could manifest in an obsessive and menacing reaction to whatever is declared, planned or spoken.

The New Moon falls on the 2-8^th axis of the traditional zodiac (Taurus-Scorpio) which involves matters such as security vs temptation, calm vs crisis, sex vs taboos etc. It is significant for those who have planets or angles between 1-5° of Taurus or Scorpio.

Author Raven Kaldera, in his book “Moon Phase Astrology”, calls this New Moon the “Dryads Moon”, the Dryads are the quiet, shy spirits of the trees, and he states that “this Moon phase in the earthiest of the astrological signs comes forth in a form that is as close to Nature that a human can possibly be”. He suggests that on this day we should steep ourselves in Nature by going for a walk or just sitting in the garden or park when possible.

Sabian symbol for 4° Taurus: “A pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.” Indicating riches that come from linking the celestial and the earthy nature.

For the antiscion at 27° Leo: “The luminescence of dawn in the eastern sky.” Indicating the exalting challenge of new opportunities at the threshold of a new cycle.
