• FULL MOON IN CANCER ON 22nd DECEMBER 2018

  • On the 22nd there will be a Full Moon at 00°49’ Cancer.

Full Moons are the times when matters climax, they are “now or never” moments regarding any projects we have initiated or intentions set at the preceding New Moon fourteen days ago. However this Full Moon could have a rather more ponderous or controlled feeling to it since the Sun is moving into a conjunction with sign ruler Saturn and Moon, although strong in its home sign of Cancer, may feel a little crushed by this opposition..

This particular lunation occurs one day after the Winter Solstice and is noteworthy because we have no planets in the Air element at the moment. Lack of Air often causes a tunnel-vision effect since we have difficulty seeing how events might unfold in the long run, concentrated as we are on the here and now. This effect is further stimulated by the Sun conjunct Saturn that keeps in tow the preponderance of planets in the Watery (4) signs whose dreams and fantasies need to be firmly anchored in the here and now.

The separating Mercury-Jupiter conjunction in intuitive and ever-optimistic Sagittarius square mind-confusing Neptune in Pisces could give us great (and grand) ideas that soon fizzle out as reality (Saturn) kicks in.

This Full Moon falls on the traditional 10th-4th axis, work vs home, public vs private, one parent vs another, rigidity vs flexibility etc. It will have major impact on those with planets or angles in the Cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra, Capricorn and Aries

In his book “Moon Phase Astrology”, author Raven Kaldera calls this the “Sea Mother’s Moon”, he recognizes it as a capricious Moon that contemporarily loves and loathes.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon 01° Cancer: “On a ship the sailors lower the old flag and raise a new one.” Indicating a radical change of allegiance exteriorised in a symbolic act: a point of no return.

For the Sun at 01° Capricorn: “An Indian chief claims power from the assembled tribe.” Indicating the power and responsibility implied in any claim for leadership.

“You see things; and you say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were; and I say, ‘Why not?’” George Bernard Shaw
