  • Uranus direct in TaurusURANUS STATIONS DIRECT IN TAURUS

    and the unexpected becomes manifest….

Uranus ends his yearly, five-month retrograde period at 27°28’ Taurus (antiscion 02°32’ Leo). This is the last time that Uranus will station direct in Taurus before permanently entering the sign of Gemini on 25-26 April for approximately seven years – but that’s another story!

The chart for the station of Uranus seems rather ominous, Uranus is conjunct Algol exactly on the descendant of the chart raised for London UK and using Placidus houses (04 February, 2.33 UT). Algol is an unfortunate Fixed Star, of the nature of Saturn and Jupiter according to Ptolemy and often means that someone is about to “lose their head” in a literal or figurative way. Furthermore, the true Lunar nodes in this chart are stationary indicating an important chart that is worth keeping an eye on, Mars in on the degree of the nodes and combust as it is sandwiched between Pluto and the Sun as well as being peregrine, it is also quincunx the South Node whose ruler is Mercury which together with Venus is making a square aspect to Uranus, Mars will be an important player during the following days. Mars being the god of war and in an Air sign could indicate battles using drones, bombs and aircrafts.

So, what might we expect for this final stay in Taurus by taking Uranus at face-value in this sign now that it is about to move direct once more?

On a mundane level, the disruption and innovation of monetary values as we now know them – Bitcoin or virtual money, already validated by the US president, with the implication of having less cash around and thus less freedom to spend our money without being controlled electronically and thus our spending habits will more easily traceable by governmental authorities. I believe that a financial upheaval may still be on the books during these last months of Uranus in Taurus. New diets, leaving the comfort foods for more healthier (and costlier) choices. Volcanic and seismic activity may be intensified as the earth shakes and quivers making us more aware of our precarious state of being. Our physical body is also our most precious possession so here too we may find new ways to dress, adorn and generally take care of ourselves that free us of the stereotypes we now follow. Who knows…what is important I believe is that we open up to the new and not yet tried out. Particularly now that Pluto has moved into the innovative and experimental sign of Aquarius.

On a personal level we must look to the house where Uranus is currently transiting and to the house it resides in our natal chart as well as the house it rules…this is where the collective changes will filter down into the personal.

The retrograde period could have provided some kind of respite and put you more in contact with your soul purpose and your needs for personal freedom and expression…a time of processing that allowed you to regroup and assimilate changes that might have appeared suddenly and that were sometimes unwanted or seemingly unnecessary and often painful. There may have been a gleaning of new insights that might have helped you reform certain attitudes and patterns of which you were previously unaware so that you can correct them without too much upset or confusion. Or maybe we are seeing the light about how comfort and bad habits may have had a negative effect upon us all during the last seven years, even more so now that Neptune has lifted the fog by leaving Pisces and now beginning the long haul through Aries, shortly to be followed by Aries too.

The last time Uranus was in this earthy sign was 1934-35 to 1941-2 covering the latter part of the great depression and the first half of WWII.

Astrologer Bil Tierney* has the following to say:

“Uranus with its equatorial plane at right angles to its orbital plane is an odd ball in our solar system and appears to roll on its side as it moves around the Sun.”

Uranus represents revolution and change as well as the need to be free and independent, above all from responsibility. He governs science and technology as well as astrology. The planet also lends an “aloof” feeling or impression to any planets it aspects.

As with all Uranus transits we might want to ask ourselves one of the following questions:

How can I prepare for unexpected and sudden events related to this house (and planet if Uranus is in aspect to any personal planet or angle)?

How do I cope with the unexpected?

How do I live with instability in this area of my life?

    And

How may I use the energy of Uranus to my best advantage in accordance with my own values, aims and ideals?

The Sabian symbol for 28° Taurus: “A woman, past her “change of life”, experiences a new love.” Indicating man’s capacity to rise in consciousness and feelings about biological limitations.

And for the antiscion at 03° Leo: “A middle-aged woman, her long hair flowing over her shoulders and in a bra-less youthful garment.” Indicating the will to meet the challenge of age in terms of our modern society’s glorification of youth.

It seems almost as though the Sabian symbols are suggesting our new outlook on life when Uranus enters youthful Gemini!

“If you can’t be flexible in life, you become irritable with life.” Anonymous
