PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE IN ARIES 29 MARCH 2025
There will be New Moon and partial Solar Eclipse at 09°09’ Aries (antiscion 20°51’ Virgo) on 29 March.
New Moons are great times to set your intentions about new projects to undertake in the month to come so try to take some quiet time to think about what you would like or need to change in the matters of the house where the New Moon takes place in your chart.
The New Moon falls on the 1-7th axis (Aries-Libra): the I vs us, me vs you, assertion vs compromise, independence vs relationship etc. Also affected by this New Moon are those people with planets or angles in the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
The New Moon/Eclipse is separating from a loose conjunction to Mercury retrograde which is on the Aries point (0° Cardinal sign). In his book “Synthesis and Counselling in Astrology”, the late Noel Tyl wrote “When the Aries point is activated in a horoscope, there is the potential of public projection in terms of the planet, point or midpoint configurated with it.” In this case Mercury could add hasty but perhaps hidden actions, thoughts or words to an eclipse which already has been described as possibly “accident-prone” and “violent”. With the Aries point also connecting to the midpoint of Mercury/Neptune and Mercury-Neptune being in contra-antiscion we might also expect more of the same regarding fake news, outright lies and deceptive and misleading tactics in general.
OOB Mars, dispositor of this lunation, is applying a sextile to Uranus and a trine to Saturn and more loosely also to Venus and Neptune. The Mars-Saturn trine implies an ability to get some hard work done despite being emotionally involved in whatever task we’re engaged in albeit probably in a non-conformist manner. Venus and Neptune add some form of nicety to the above…it could however be just a beautiful illusion. The sextile of both to Uranus could be the jolt we need to get moving out of our comfort zone. Moon c//Saturn, perhaps the people or our hearts will be saddened or disappointed in some way by the outcome of the above.
There is a scarcity of the Air element (only Pluto in Air) and only two planets in the Fixed modality, so although we may have difficulty seeing the road ahead we are at least moving forward which is better than staying put.
The eclipse path will touch the following countries: Europe, North in Asia, North/West Africa, Much of North America, North in South America, Atlantic, Arctic.
According to Bernadette Brady, renowned astrologer, the effects of solar eclipses are more external and deal with events that surround the person, that is, they bring in events that we ourselves have not precipitated. Eclipses are spotlights that shine on our life-path, they catch you in mid-action illuminating that area of your life (house) in which they occur. Whatever has been shoved aside or ignored will turn up for your attention and this could be experienced as dramatic and emotional whilst at the same time giving you the opportunity to deal with it, or not. It depends entirely on you.
Brady has classified the eclipses in the Saros cycle into precise characteristics according to the planetary configurations present as the moment the eclipse was born (for those interested in learning more about this please consult her book which I’ve included in the reference section).
As per the recent total Lunar Eclipse earlier this month this eclipse also belongs to the Saros series 9 New North* which according to Bernadette Brady is a very physically expressive series. Since accidents and violence might be part of its effects Brady advises not to hide away but to undertake some kind physical activity keeping an eye to safety. However, this is a north node Solar Eclipse and as such deemed less “harsh” in its effects than the recent Lunar eclipse which was on the south node.
The last time there was a solar eclipse at 8° Aries was in March 2006 (but of a different Saros series).
What was happening in your life then?
Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this “The Infant’s” Moon and he compares it to the “Fool” in the tarot deck, an innocent being eager to discover the world. He states that on this Moon “we begin things, we revisit our relationship with that state of utter faith and excitement of the grand unknown. Have we become too cynical for that kind of trust?”
Linda Goodman, author of the famous book “Sun Signs”, is said to have commented this New Moon “how appropriate that the archetypical Infant of Aries was protected by the seasoned and powerful Warrior of Mars”.
This New Moon, as the first sign in the zodiac, symbolizes the starting point of a new journey, a rise to the next level. We need to leave our comfort zone and discover new pathways and destinations, particularly so with the aspects it is making to Uranus and Pluto. We must endeavour to develop the courage that Mars demands, which is not the absence of fear, but the capacity to act despite of it by taking a leap of faith.
The Sabian symbol for 10° Aries is “A teacher gives new symbolic forms to traditional images.” Indicating the revision of attitude at the beginning of a new cycle of experience.
For the antiscion at 21° Virgo: “A girls basketball team.” Indicating physical training as a means to inculcate the feeling of participation in a collective culture.
“Not getting what you want either means you don’t want it enough, or you have been dealing too long with the price you have to pay.” Rudyard Kipling
In which house does the New Moon /Eclipse fall in your chart? What intentions are you setting?
