• OOB NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS ON 19-20 DECEMBER 2025

  • New Moon in SagittariusOOB NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS

    ……new beginnings? I wish

There will be an OOB New Moon at 28°24’ Sagittarius (antiscion 01°36’ Capricorn) and it will be the third of a series of six consecutive new moons on this degree of the relative signs.

One might suppose that with Jupiter being the dispositor of this New Moon things might be on an upward curve after the past two rather intense lunations. A moment of respite and hope after despair.

    Think again.

Jupiter, dispositor of this lunation, is exalted in Cancer where it is now transiting, likened to an honoured guest there, but the planet is retrograde and not running on full capacity and thus more inclined to forgive himself everything, even the most spiteful actions. Jupiter R is in Mutual Reception with the OOB Moon (each in one another’s sign) so able to help each other in some way, although the OOB Moon in Sagittarius is peregrine and certainly needs someone to guide her on her wild trip high in Southern declination (28°+) where OOB Mars is also to be found (the two are not parallel since Mars is at 24°S). Jupiter R is conjunct Fixed Star Pollux of the nature of Mars according to Ptolemy and brings with it a high position but danger of disgrace. Jupiter R is also in a trine aspect to Saturn and Neptune, both in Pisces, expanding perhaps the self-doubt and the fear of losing oneself in the chaos and to add to the confusion Jupiter R is also c// Mercury in Sagittarius and not always to be relied on there!

Venus is conjunct the New Moon adding some sweetness perhaps, but it is combust and hidden at best, ineffective at worst. The trio (Venus, Sun, Moon) are also square Saturn-Neptune, the latter two also sextile to Uranus R, the delusion and illusion are still very present particularly so in Venus ruled matters. Sun, Venus and Pluto are all parallel, power is bubbling under the surface of our leaders however compliant they may seem in public!! Also, Venus and the lunation are in exact quincunx to Uranus R, expect some subvert unexpected move from either party (leaders or people) in the days that precede or immediately follow the New Moon probably concerning some financial matter(s).

The Elements in the lunation chart show a scarcity of Air with only Pluto there, looking to a future which might seem full of doom at the moment, the Modalities are strong in Mutable energy (7 planets) at least we’re flexible enough to hopefully catch the moment.

On New Moons we set our intentions for the month ahead and this one in particular offers the Sagittarian perspective on our destiny and our relationship with the universe inviting us to look ahead with optimism despite the problems.

The New Moon is also almost exactly conjunct the Galactic Centre, that dark hole around which the Milky Way revolves in Outer Space and which is a significant source of creative power in the charts of all of us. However, whilst taking a leap of faith is fantastic maybe risking all for nothing could turn out to be too audacious and less auspicious.

In his book “Moon Phase Astrology” author Raven Kaldera calls this Moon “the Gypsy Moon”. On this Moon he invites us to go out and experience new cultures and ideas, with the aim of stretching our abilities to accept all things foreign in order to challenge ourselves and our own prejudices. What better way to do this than travelling which can provide excellent points of view upon which to reflect when the journey is over. So, rather than just reading about new places it would be better to experience these in person on your own skin so as to say.

Particularly interested in this New Moon will be those persons with planets or angles between 26-30° of the mutable signs (Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini and Virgo) and on the antiscion point of 1-3° Capricorn.

The Sabian symbol for 29° Sagittarius: “A fat boy mowing the lawn of his house on an elegant suburban street.” Indicating the need to attend to everyday tasks which both ensure social worth or respectability and benefit one’s constitution.

For its antiscion point 2° Capricorn: “Three rose windows in a Gothic church, one damaged by war.” Indicating the necessary realisation by any individual making a violent use of collective power that it will lead to the inevitable destruction of some of the values ensuring group-integration.

“It’s funny. All you have to do is say something nobody understands and they’ll do practically anything you want them to.” J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

“It’s time to care; it’s time to take responsibility; it’s time to lead; it’s time for a change; it’s time to be true to our greatest self; it’s time to stop blaming others.” S. Maraboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience

What are your intentions for this New Moon?

So, what does it mean for a planet to be OOB? When we cast an astrological chart we use a precise locality (birth place) on the earth and from this observation point we take note of the position of the planets in the sky at the time of birth and this enables us to calculate the angles that the planets form to the given locality. Another point of reference however is the celestial equator (which is the terrestrial equator elongated into space). When planets travel beyond 23°27’ either side of the celestial equator, be it North or South, they are referred to as “out of bounds”.

OOB planets can also be found in birth charts and special attention should be paid to them since they are considered “stronger”.
