Thoughts, plans and emotions are all entangled
Mercury stations retrograde on 18th June (GMT) at 14°45’ Cancer (antiscion 15°15’ Gemini, almost exact to the minute of the Lunar Eclipse on 5th June in Sagittarius when Sun was at 15°34’ Gemini and thus activating the Eclipse point).
Cancer, being a Water sign, is all about feelings and emotions and, being ruled by the Moon, how these fluctuate in time.
Mercury is a little out of sync in Cancer, finding some minor dignity only between 10-20° of the sign. Being a Water sign, Cancer is far too emotional for “all-in-my-head” Mercury.
Retrograde planets seemingly interfere with the normal ongoing flow of activities represented by that planet in the outer world.
This retrograde will therefore be great for processing the emotions we’ve been experiencing over the last months since the most recent Mercury retrograde which took place in Pisces-Aquarius in February-March this year.
The pandemic and the consequent restrictions aimed at limiting contagion has made this whole affair a long haul for everyone. Personally, the onset of the pandemic and the restrictions gave me the impression of being hired for a role in a science-fiction film that I wanted no part of! It was (and still is) surreal! Fast-forward from end February-early March to present day and now the idea of being able to leave the house more-or-less when I want seems scary! It feels like the whole world has got bigger and rather hostile and I’m beginning to wonder whether I’m suffering from agoraphobia or not. This fits with home loving, big Mummy, Cancer energy of the Mercury retrograde…I need to work out my feelings and get over this fear and make plans about how to do this.
As always, the usual suggestions apply to the Mercury retrograde: great for putting “re” in front of everything, planning, but waiting for the direct station, before acting. Expecting possible delays in transport of all kinds, upheavals in the planning of appointments, electronic equipment going haywire etc. Avoiding signing contracts (where possible, but again contracts are between people so it’s a retrograde season for everyone and if its “bad” for one it may be “good” for the other party).
There is a lot of spin around Mercury retrogrades nowadays in the mainstream news but it really boils down to the condition of your natal Mercury and how you have responded to the various retrograde periods over the years.
The Sabian symbol for Mercury at 15° Cancer: “In a sumptuous dining hall, guests relax after partaking of a huge banquet.” Indicating the need that exists at an early stage of human growth to materialise the concept of fulfilment.
For the antiscion at 16° Gemini: “A woman activist in an emotional speech dramatizing her cause.” Indicating a passionate response to a deeply felt new experience.
“Don’t make a permanent decision for your temporary emotion.” Anonymous
