Jupiter on steroids?
Leaving the murky waters of Scorpio after a 12-month stay where many a sexy scandal was caught in the net, especially in the make-believe world of the film industry, then again with 3 trines to Neptune in Pisces what were we to expect? Jupiter will enter its home sign of Sagittarius on the 8th of November, just one day after the New Moon and the change of signs of the Lunar nodal axis.
Sagittarius is the 9th sign of the zodiac, it is a mutable, Fire sign, masculine and diurnal characterised by optimism, love of freedom, lack of tact, unreliability combined with honesty, restlessness and love of teaching (preaching) among many other qualities.
Jupiter, or Zeus as the ancient Greeks knew him, was the King of the Olympian gods. He was omniscient, knowing and seeing everything, as well as dispensing good and evil not only in the Heavens but also among the mortals on the Earth. Although married to a very jealous spouse (Hera) he had great difficulty keeping his private parts under his tunic and managed to have many extra-marital affairs with goddesses and mortals alike thus producing an incredible number of children who he always left to be raised by others.
Jupiter represents, among many other things, foreign travel, ideals, teaching, learning, legal matters, religion, the clergy, indigo-violet-purple colours, the hips, thighs and liver.
Consequently we also associate Jupiter with growth, expansion and luck in general which, if exaggerated, can also lead to greed and dissatisfaction in some cases, making us believe that the truth and future are elsewhere and so prompting us to explore further.
the last time Jupiter was in Sagittarius
was from mid-November 2006
to late December 2007
what was happening then in your life?
During Jupiter’s transit in the house ruled by Sagittarius in your chart (and the contacts it makes to planets and angles as it moves through that house) maybe you could ask yourself a few questions, such as:
How can I experience more freedom of action in this sector of my life?
How may I increase my positivity and enthusiasm?
How can I teach or help others?
What are my future plans in this area of my life?
Asking yourself this kind of question and listening to your answers will mean using the energy of Jupiter (expansion and growth) to its best during the year to come. This is the teaching of a branch of astrology known as “Evolutionary Astrology”. It’s a way of engaging yourself in your own journey instead of being passive and hoping for the best.
Nonetheless, I’ve found that Jupiter transits are heralded by great expectations but usually deliver about 10% of what we hope for if we don’t take up or search for opportunities in that sector of life which the transit touches. So, if Jupiter enters your 7th house and you’re looking for a mate then stir up that energy, start socializing, change the venues where you normally hang out because if you don’t then it’s a bit far-reached to think that someone will knock on your door to say “Hi, I’m here for you”, except of course, if you’ve set your eyes on the person who delivers the post or the take-away!
create your own opportunities
The only imminent aspect of some importance is a square (first of three) to Neptune in Pisces at 14° during the third week of January 2019. Your ideals and expectations (Jupiter) may be far too impractical (Neptune) to be feasible and other people may point this out to you! Or your generosity (Jupiter) in helping the less fortunate could balloon (Jupiter) to include those who may not be completely worthy (Neptune) of your charity.
On a mundane level, with Jupiter representing religion, the clergy and obviously, in the Christian world, the Pope, Sagittarius is about the truth…any guesses here about what might come out during this transit?
