FULL MOON IN ARIESA Harvest Moon with little to reap…
Full Moons are moments when matters peak concerning the house axis where it falls, for good or for bad, and some of these matters could involve any intentions you might have set on the previous New Moon which took place fifteen days ago.
The Full Moon occurs at 14°08’ (antiscion 15°52’ Virgo). The antiscion point is exactly opposite the degree of the Lunar Eclipse which took place on the 7th of September at 15°25° Pisces and thus activates the eclipse. The Moon and Sun stand alone as they face each other since there are no traditional aspects to other planets in the lunation chart.
The Sun in Libra is in its fall and the Moon in Aries is peregrine.
A King (Sun) and a Queen (Moon) with no courtiers and little respect for themselves and for others.
Mars, the dispositor of the Moon is strong in its own sign of Scorpio but it too is making no Ptolemaic aspects to other planets in the chart, a bully with no one to play with!
Venus, dispositor of the Sun is in its own triplicity in Virgo but also in its fall and it is separating from the South Lunar node so not really in the best of conditions, but it is approaching an exalted Jupiter in Cancer by sextile. This could be an opportunity to be benevolent without exceeding since Jupiter is also approaching a trine aspect to Saturn R which should keep the reins on Jupiter’s extravagance.
A very tight yod is also present in the chart (or Finger of God as some like to call them, I use very tight aspects with yod and quincunx aspects – no more than 1°). It is formed by the sextile between Uranus R and Neptune R with Mercury as apex, Mercury is peregrine and ruled by Mars. Encouraging the yod to act is the square from OOB Pluto R which is also trine Uranus R and sextile Neptune R. The yod leads to several interpretations, good and bad. One of the better ones might be the dissolution of individual limitations with Mercury apex acting as a soundbox for free speech but with a rather warlike arrogant attitude due to Mercury being ruled by a very strong Mars in Scorpio. A less noble interpretation could involve the propagation (channelled through Mercury) of unrealistic solutions to problems which might involve warfare. Let’s not forget that the Moon is ruled by Mars which rules Mercury!
In the lunation chart there are several aspects to the Fixed Stars:
Moon conjunct Alpheratz – of the nature of Jupiter and Mars according to Ptolemy bestowing energy and honours.
Venus conjunct Denebola – of the nature of Saturn and Venus according to Ptolemy bestowing strong passions and ruin through love affairs (Venus rules Sun in this chart).
Jupiter conjunct Pollux – of the nature of Mars according to Ptolemy bestowing legal losses and a high position with danger of disgrace (Venus is sextile Jupiter – which is ruled by the Moon in this chart).
The three outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto all retrograde) are also conjunct Fixed Stars but I think that the above three are already enough when added to the lunation chart.
The lunation falls on the 1-7th house axis in the traditional horoscope (Aries-Libra) and involves such issues as; me vs we, what I want vs what we want, fighting vs cooperation, assertion vs compromise etc.
This Moon will affect those with planets or angles between 10-19° of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn).
Author, Raven Kaldera, in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this the “Warrior’s Moon”. On this Moon he writes that we fight for what we believe in, often in a lone battle with our own interior demons during which time we also learn the virtue of patience and compromise.
The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 15° Aries: “An Indian weaving a ceremonial blanket.” Indicating projecting into everyday living the realisation of wholeness and fulfilment.
For the antiscion at 16° Virgo: “In the zoo, children are brought face to face with an orang-utang.” Indicating a direct confrontation with the “wild” power of primordial nature within oneself.
For the Sun at 15° Libra: “Circular paths.” Indicating the coming to terms with the inevitability of establishing steady rhythms of social activity.
“Is it a crime, to fight, for what is mine?” Tupac Shakur
