NEW MOON IN VIRGO Are all the details out in the open?
A New Moon at 18°26’ Virgo, a Mutable, Earth sign ruled by Mercury (antiscion 11°34’ Aries).
Both the Modalities and the Elements are well-balanced in the lunation chart.
The New Moon is applying a sextile aspect to Mars in Cancer, perhaps the head (leaders) and the heart (people) have different goals in mind but now there is an opportunity to work together but will this remain only a hope or become another battle?
Mercury, dispositor of the lunation, has just entered Libra and is part of a Grand Trine in Air together with OOB Pluto R and Uranus R. Air Grand Trines are very mentally inspired and Neptune R is activating the GT via an opposition to Mercury and a simultaneous sextile to OOB Pluto R and Uranus R. This Neptune plug is activating the GT whilst also muddling the whole mental stability of whatever ideal the GT happens to be following in any given moment. It really seems that truth has once more become an option rather than a given in many situations. Mercury and Neptune are parallel each other at 0° declination and about to head South. Most astrologers seem to agree that Northern declination is more dynamic with outgoing energy that has effect on others whilst Southern declination is more stable and sensitive to incoming energies that effect the self, deception for purely our own benefit perhaps?
Moon is parallel Saturn R so our mood could be a tad on the serious side, perhaps adding to the anxiety a Virgo Moon is prone to.
Jupiter is separating from a trine to Saturn R, some progress may have been made in the war games in the days prior to the lunation.
Venus is approaching a square aspect with OOB Pluto R with this transit we are invited to put our relationships under scrutiny, are we batting on the same team or do we need to find, new better partnerships?
The house axis involved in this lunation is the 6th-12th, Virgo-Pisces involving such matters as discrimination vs universality, order vs chaos and criticism vs compassion. The New Moon will involve those persons with planets/angles between 14-22° of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces).
New Moons are times when the Sun and Moon are conjoined in the identical degree of the same sign and this causes the Moon to remain hidden from our view.
It’s a great moment to set intentions for the coming month regarding the matters of the house where it falls in our natal chart. These lunations can be seen as moments of “seeding”.
“The New Moon, of course, is in the sign of the Sun, and the double emphasis on that sign is said to have meaning in terms of what we experience that month. The Sun’s sign now given extra emphasis by the addition of the Moon, is a seasonal theme.” Author M.K. Simms reminds us in her book “Moon Tides, Soul Passages.
Whilst astrologer Raven Kaldera calls this the
“Maiden’s Moon”
during which we are invited to search solace in solitude rather than desperately trying to fill the room with other auras.
In Virgo, the New Moon focusses on our welfare (both physical and mental) and asks us to choose between what nurtures us and what harms or poisons us (Neptune) giving order to the chaos (Pisces) that surrounds us.
The Sabian symbol for 19° Virgo: “A swimming race.” Indicating the stimulation that comes from a group effort toward a spiritual goal.
For the antiscion at 12° Aries: “A triangularly shaped flight of wild geese.” Indicating an idealistic reliance upon a mental image of universal order.
“People don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed”. F. Nietszche
What are your intentions for this New Moon?
