OOB NEW MOON IN CANCER heading home…right?
The New Moon will occur in the maternal sign of Cancer at 21°59’ (antiscion 08°01’ Gemini).
Being in its own sign this is obviously a very dignified Moon, loving and caring, or perhaps not since the Moon is also OOB. OOB Moons are known to have a very personal idea of what mothering might mean.
The New Moon is separating from a retrograde Mercury so communications and travel plans might have been chaotic and confusing in the hours prior to the lunation. Whilst the infamous conjunction between Mars and Uranus is now separating, I find that the yod between a Neptune-Pluto sextile and a Venus apex quite interesting. Yods act a little like a pebble in your shoe; it gets to the point where you need to do something (take off your shoe) to get rid of the irritation. However, just like other aspects, yods need to be activated before something happens, this yod has Uranus trine Pluto and sextile Neptune and square Venus so something probably to do with “right or wrong” so familiar to Virgo people will come forth to be corrected in a very surprising and unexpected way. Jupiter is also plugging in to the Pluto leg as an opposition and to the Neptune leg in trine aspect to the yod hinting that a necessary compromise between the inflated ego and the need for social change must be found without further delay. This could also indicate someone who thinks he’s God (Jupiter) but is socially out-of-place and awkward and thus wants to destroy (Pluto) his particular image of the supposed enemy (Neptune in Aries) in order to feel more publicly accepted (the workings of some minds are really weird).
The Elemental quality of the lunation chart has only one planet (Venus) in the Earth signs, practicality doesn’t seem to be a concern at the moment since marching forward at all costs, 5 planets in the Cardinal Modality seems to be the priority now.
Sun is also parallel Mars hinting about aggressive behaviour and shows of force.
New Moons are the moment we set our intentions for the month ahead regarding the house where the New Moon falls in our chart but we now have four of ten planets transiting in this sign making it a very emotionally energetic period particularly for the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phases” calls this the “Daughter’s Moon” and likens it to the myth of Demeter and her daughter Persephone who was abducted into the Underworld by Hades (Pluto). He therefore attributes painful conflicts with family members to this and all the other Cancer moon phases and on this Moon he recommends that we examine our relationships with close ones, especially those which involve nurturing received or given.
It falls on the 4th-10th house axis, the private vs public, mother vs father, fluidity vs rigidity etc.
This lunation will most involve those persons with planets or angles between 16-24° of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn).
The Sabian symbol for 22° Cancer: “A young woman awaiting a sailboat.” Indicating the long for tremendous happiness in the soul opened to great dreams.
The Sabian symbol for the antiscion at 09° Gemini: “A quiver filled with arrows.” Indicating man’s aggressive relationship to natural life, as a basis for survival and conquest.
“I can only note that the past is beautiful because one never realises an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don’t have complete emotions about the present, only about the past.” V. Woolf
What intentions will you set for this New Moon?
