OOB NEW MOON IN CAPRICORNOn 18 January there will be an OOB New Moon at 28°43’ Capricorn (antiscion 01°17’ Sagittarius). This is the fourth New Moon of six at 28° of the relative signs.
Capricorn is a Cardinal, Earth sign, so persons with planets or angles of the natal chart at 24-29° of Capricorn, Aries, Cancer and Libra will be particularly affected by this lunation as well as its antiscion point of 1°17’ Sagittarius.
New Moons are notoriously the best moment to set fresh intentions for the month ahead and with Capricorn involved, this needs to be done in a very serious, responsible fashion with the aim of making your intentions real.
Presently there is a tight stellium of four planets in Capricorn; Mercury (peregrine), Mars (exalted), OOB Moon (nighttime triplicity and detriment) and Sun, all the three former mentioned planets are combust by their too close vicinity with the Sun. So, the combust planets are hidden and greatly hampered in their actions by the Sun who reigns undisturbed. A Sun in this condition with three planets at his beck and call indicates that he calls the dice, be it warfare, money, ruling over people or whatever. Furthermore, the four planets are also in a close trine aspect with retrograde Uranus in Taurus inciting even more unexpected and unsolicited events into the mix probably involving financial matters or territorial claims. This trine aspect forms another aspect known as a minor grand trine with a Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Pisces, this planetary duo facilitates the natural flowing energy of the trine lending an interpretation of “structural weakness” or “lack of boundaries” or the “dream of fixing new boundaries” perhaps in seas or oceans or maybe an island territory.
Venus and Pluto are conjunct in Aquarius: the value and power of freedom and independence, who is giving and who is taking this?
With so many planets being actively involved in this New Moon we are only left with a singleton, exalted, retrograde Jupiter in Cancer. So much to give yet no one to give it to! In theory it may be in tune with the emotional needs of the people but due to the retrogradation its more an internal consideration than an outward demonstration.
There is a heavy Earth signature as well as an equally heavy Cardinal modality in this lunation chart. Charging ahead for practical gains but with little faith that things will actually turn out as desired (no Fire Element).
Capricorn rules the astrological 10th house so this New Moon falls on the 10th-4th house axis; public vs private, one parent vs the other parent, work vs home etc.
According to astrologer Alice Bailey, (16th June 1880 –15th December 1949) the sign of Capricorn is represented by three stages and images: the more instinctual phase of development is represented by the crocodile, followed by a more mature phase envisaged by the mountain goat and finally the unicorn whose single horn represents the unified vision of the third eye.
On a more modern note, author Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” describes this as the
“Forgotten one’s Moon”.
Likening this New Moon to the child who no-one notices. On this New Moon he posits that we should remember our early experiences of being “left out” and the feelings and fantasies that we used to carry around with us during that painful period. We now have the opportunity to re-examine those ambitions of ours that may have been stunted or set aside because of this early trauma. Therefore, according to him, this is an excellent time to sort out those areas in our life where we lose our power and what steps we might be able to take to change our status here.
The Sabian symbol for 29° Capricorn: “A woman reading tea leaves.” Indicating the ability to see the signature of hidden meaning in very occurrence drawing one’s attention.
For the antiscion point at 2° Sagittarius: “White-capped waves display the power of wind over sea.” Indicating the mobilisation of unconscious energies under the pressure of super personal motives.
“The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace.” Mahatma Gandhi

Bibliography
* So, what does it mean for a planet to be OOB? When we cast an astrological chart we use a precise locality (birth place) on the earth and from this observation point we take note of the position of the planets in the sky at the time of birth and this enables us to calculate the angles that the planets form to the given locality. Another point of reference however is the celestial equator (which is the terrestrial equator elongated into space). When planets travel beyond 23°27’ either side of the celestial equator, be it North or South, they are referred to as “out of bounds”.
OOB planets can also be found in birth charts and special attention should be paid to them since they are considered important since they can bring up connections to each other which are not necessarily visible in longitude.
