OOB FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN
The second Full Moon of this lunar month (also known as a blue Moon but less rare than given to believe) will occur at 29°09’ in the serious, ambitious sign of Capricorn (antiscion 00°51’ Sagittarius) and has the flavour of the 4th-10th house axis (Cancer-Capricorn), the intimate versus the public, home versus work/career, fluidity versus rigidity etc. The Moon is OOB and as such prone to acting in an exaggerated fashion.
An emotionally dry Moon in Capricorn with its dispositor Saturn retrograde in the all-encompassing sign of Pisces but without any Ptolemaic aspects, a loner and peregrine thus able to offer only the worst version of itself.
Moon, Sun and Neptune are all at 29° of their respective signs, the all-or-nothing degree when each planet strives to fully express the characteristics of the transited sign.
The Moon itself forms an exact sextile to Neptune R and is separating from a trine aspect to Uranus. Persons with their natal charts involved in these degrees might be craving (Moon) excitement (Uranus) in some form, yet daydreaming (Neptune) might just be the key to changing your ideals (Neptune sextile Uranus) and heading in a new direction. The people (Moon in mundane charts) however may be wanting their ideals to be the forerunner of a change that until now they have only daydreamed about.
Mars is an exact trine to Pluto R and //Uranus and Venus as well as being in exact opposition to the Moon’s antiscion point at 00°51’ Sagittarius. These planets are in the Air/Fire elements with only Uranus in an Earth sign and they are all the Fixed/Mutable modality. There is a lot of mental energy (Mars in Gemini) that could express itself in an unexpected (Uranus)and transformative (Pluto) way. Perhaps too much stage talk (Venus in Leone) in an attempt to look and sound good may ignite (Uranus) the rage (Mars-Pluto) of the people (Moon).
The lunation chart itself has a fair balance between elements, but the Modalities have only two planets in the Cardinal mode (Moon and Sun).
The Full Moon is also the time to reap rewards for past endeavors, things undertaken at the last New Moon. It signals the climax of a cycle when our energy is at its peak and when the time is ripe for the harvest.
Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this moon the “Grandmother’s Moon”. The Grandmother is the head of her family, clan or tribe and she rules all blood relatives and cares for them intensely.
Under this Moon we may feel older, wiser and a little more rigid, it’s the destiny of Capricorn to embody maturity and this Full Moon is the archetype of the Elder in all her fullness.
So, under this Moon we may honour our family elders (both living and dead) and our focus will turn to our close relatives. It’s a time to get organized and to take responsibility also at an emotional level.
The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 30° Capricorn: “A secret meeting of men responsible for executive decisions in world affairs.” Indicating the power to assume responsibility for crucial choices arrived at after mature discussions with those who share this power.
For the Moon’s antiscion at 01° Sagittarius: “Retired army veterans gather to reawaken old memories.” Indicating the will to reaffirm the value of the struggle upon which civilisation an group-achievements are founded.
For the Sun at 30° Cancer: “A daughter of the American revolution.” Indicating the prestige and conservation of a long-maintained heritage.
“Dispassionate objectivity is itself a passion, for the real and for the truth.” Abraham Maslow
