FULL MOON/PENUMBRAL ECLIPSE IN LIBRA
is it “me” or “we” time for you?
Only a few days after the Spring Equinox there will a Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse occurring at 05°07’ Libra, a Cardinal, Air sign ruled by Venus. Equinoxes are by themselves important times of change and Aries as a Cardinal sign marks new beginnings.
The lunation chart is a little top-heavy in the Water element but perhaps a little empathy could go a long way to resolve some of the more crucial problems afflicting the world at the moment.
The Moon stands alone in one hemisphere of the chart as if observing the other nine planets on the opposite side. The Moon (people) is separating from a trine aspect to Pluto increasing perhaps our sensitivity and need for harmony in all social situations before opposing the exalted Sun (leaders) in Aries who only thinks of his own needs.
Venus, dispositor of the Moon is exalted in Pisces and is also in Mutual Reception with Jupiter dispositor of Pisces. Venus is only just separating from a sextile aspect to Jupiter too, this aspect could induce optimism especially after the Venus-Saturn conjunction which took place a couple of days ago and which might have shown us how situations really are. However, the upcoming conjunction with Neptune could again lead us astray as to exactly what is actually going on especially since make-believe in negotiations is far easier to accept than hard facts. Things could become really shocking in fact as Jupiter (on the degree of the transiting nodes and thus central to this chart) approaches its conjunction with Uranus in April. Bracing ourselves for something extraordinarily unexpected could be a good idea.
Moon//Neptune further highlights confusion and living in a dream world, Venus//North Node could bring luck to financial or romantic endeavours, Mercury c//Mars hints at harsh words or rushed actions that might cause incidents if not accidents especially so now that Mercury is dragging its feet as it prepares to station retrograde on the 1st April.
This will be a penumbral eclipse as the Moon passes through the Earth’s outer shadow and as such hardly visible.
This Lunar eclipse belongs to the Saros series 8 North and according to Bernadette Brady is characteristic of inventiveness and flashes of genius and could cause strain on the private area of our lives since the person who has a natal chart interested by 5° Libra or Aries will have the desire to be free if only for a few weeks. The last lunar eclipse near this degree was at 3° Libra on 23 March 2016 (but of a different Saros series).
Can you remember what was happening in your inner and/or outer life then?
During Full Moons the Sun and Moon are in opposition to each other; the head (Sun) and the heart (Moon) are out of kilter, Aries is about the “me” whilst Libra is about the “we”.
While Aries loves challenges and initiations, fighting for them if necessary, Libra, a Cardinal Air sign, wants partnership and prefers fairness and justice in all relationships, but these are also values that can be fought for too. What do we value most, ourselves or our relationships? And again, are we reflecting our true selves in our relationships or are we making do and letting fear make us possessive and jealous?
Full Moons (Lunar eclipses occur at Full Moons) put the spotlight on the darker side of life, where we need to question our motivations. It poses the question of what needs to be understood and transformed and what needs to be kept versus what we need to let go of particularly in our relationships.
Whilst solar eclipses manifest as external events in our lives, lunar eclipses indicate more intimate, emotional changes which could of course still manifest as external events if the brooding that accompanies our innermost vicissitudes causes changes to our behaviour at an individual level. Such events are in fact brought about by our own thoughts and feelings.
Eclipses can be considered as a “spotlight” on the matters of the house axis where they occur in your chart (particularly so if personal planets or angles are involved in the eclipse degrees). It shines its light and brings to our attention those areas of our lives that need to be addressed for some reason. Dealing with these matters, once identified, could lead to a life-changing event in some cases. However, since events under eclipses are often unexpected and sudden it’s not always possible to prepare in advance but having a notion of the matters of the houses interested in the event could give us an inkling as to where the disruption might come from.
Full Moons are when matters climax, they are “now or never” moments regarding any projects we have initiated or intentions set at the preceding New Moon fourteen days ago.
This lunation takes place on the traditional 7th-1st house axis, Libra-Aries the “you” vs “me”, compromise vs assertion, relationship vs independence etc. Most affected by this Full Moon are those people with planets or angles in the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Allow a 2° orb for contacts.
Author Raven Kaldera calls it
the “Artist’s Moon”
according to him, it’s a great time to start creative projects and an even better time to pick up those creative projects you’ve put aside or forgot about or lost inspiration in. It’s also a good time to go public with your art (or your talents I might add).
For the Moon at 06° Libra: “A man watches his ideals taking a concrete form before his inner vision.” Indicating the need to visualise clearly one’s dreams or ideals in order to make them truly effectual.
For the antiscion at 25° Pisces: “A religious organisation succeeds in overcoming the corrupting influence of perverted practices and materialised ideals.” Indicating the power of the Soul to intervene in the personal life and to induce necessary catharses.
The Sabian symbol for Sun at 06° Aries: “A square, with one of its sides brightly illumined.” Indicating the emotional desire for concrete and stabilised existence as a person.
“In this story I am the poet. You’re the poetry.” Arzum Uzun
