change is coming…should we follow our dream?
There will be a Full Moon at 00°42’ of the sign of Virgo on February 19th. Virgo is a mutable Earth sign ruled by Mercury.
Foremost, it is worth noting that this Full Moon will be on the antiscion of 29°18’ Aries almost the actual position of Uranus to the minute. Another annotation is that the Full Moon is conjunct the Royal Fixed Star Regulus now to be found at 0°04’ Virgo (it entered the sign of Virgo in 2011), this is usually considered a fortunate star conferring public prominence and great honour among its better effects.
The combination Moon-Uranus could hint at emotional dynamite or fireworks with unpredictable feelings suddenly surfacing on what is seemingly an organized, rational framework. Virgo’s practicality could enable us to adjust to new situations in a grounded, hands-on way as our need for emotional security blends with a demand for independence or we could become easily excitable and even hysterical in the face of sudden change even more so since Moon is parallel Mars in this Full Moon chart. Another possibility could be a shock coming from the sudden need to recognize sentiments and emotions that have always been there and that we now have no choice but to acknowledge.
The Moon’s dispositor, Mercury, is separating from a conjunction to Neptune in dreamy Pisces (the Sun’s modern-day ruler during this lunation) and both are sextile to Saturn in Capricorn. This could create the right opportunity to make full use of our imagination, giving structure to our dreams and fantasies. The Sun’s traditional dispositor during the lunation is Jupiter, happy in its own sign without giving or receiving particular aspects to other planets.
Full Moons are also known to be times when things climax, when we decide that enough is enough for certain aspects of our life because we avert an intensified conflict between two major areas of our life and we need to find a way to honour both. They shine a light on the area that is “hidden” and in this case, in traditional astrology, all matters concerning the 6th house and the sign of Virgo. This is certainly more evident when the Full Moon closely aspects any personal planets or angles in your chart (0-4° of the mutable signs: Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces and Gemini), it also depends on the houses involved in your individual chart.
The house axis in traditional astrology which is involved in this Full Moon is the 6th – 12th one, Virgo-Pisces; intellect vs intuition, effort vs surrender, judgement vs compassion etc.
Virgo and the 6th house, in modern astrology, respect the physical body and thus fitness regimes and diets which are involved in the healthy functioning of our bodies, it also includes our daily routine and work. Its shadow side however tends to treat the body as a slave, pushing it to its physical limits until injury or illness force us to pay attention. Virgo is very discriminating and delights in helping people, its shadow part tends to judge and falls into servitude by keeping itself over-occupied in the hope of escaping feelings of powerlessness and loneliness. In traditional astrology however the 6th house represents any person “who serves us” such as people who work in our homes including craftsmen, it also represents ill-health and unpleasantness among other things.
This Full Moon could thus be a good moment to step-up the ways that aid our emotional well-being.
In his book “Moon Phase Astrology”, author Raven Kaldera calls this Virgo Moon phase the “Spinner’s Moon” – he or she who spins the thread of life for each and every one of us. He suggests we use this time to count our web of obligations, whom we owe, who owes us and how we feel about these obligations. And, moreover, who will be there to catch us should we fall? For him, this is also a good time to render service to others in a selfless way.
The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 1° Virgo: “In a portrait, the significant features of a man’s head are artistically emphasized.” Indicating the capacity to picture to oneself the salient features and the overall meaning of any life situation.
For the Sun at 1° Pisces: “In a crowded marketplace farmers and middlemen display a great variety of products.” Indicating the process of commingling and interchange which at all levels demonstrates the health of a community.
