    Could be very insidious…

    The New Moon (the first of the astrological year) will occur at 27°29’ Aries (antiscion 02°31’ Virgo).

    This is a me, me, me, action-oriented New Moon making part of a 6-planet stellium in Aries. Let’s remember some of the keywords for Aries: courageous, foolhardy, direct, aggressive, opinionated, enthusiastic, passionate and pioneering are a few that come to mind. Aries is also a Cardinal, Fire sign, Cardinal signs are action-oriented, Fire signs are known for their enthusiasm, their faith in life and often, undyingly, in themselves. So, we have a huge bundle of energy that hopefully will be directed in a positive way and not burn itself out by over-reacting.

    Whilst Sun in Aries has dignity by triplicity, Moon is peregrine, unable to act.

    We really do need to incorporate some Libran energy into all this to find some equilibrium and sense of the “other”, helping those in most difficulty. The only planet in an Air sign at the moment is Pluto at 05° Aquarius, Air signs are the ones you need in an emergency with their gift of being able to look and plan ahead anticipating events, unfortunately Mars is partile sextile to Pluto, the opportunity for disaster is at hand if we can’t find the necessary cooperation between the ego and the needs of the collective. Let’s not forget that Mars is also the dispositor of this New Moon.

    Saturn, also in Aries, is in fall and less able to act in its usual manner opting perhaps for less orthodox action. The planet is also on the same degree as the transiting lunar nodal axis highlighting the planet as a major player over the next month. Saturn might refer to old people, old ways of disputing whatever, old rules being changed or fighting with intent etc., the planet is also in conjunction with Mars, Mercury and Neptune.

    Venus is applying a conjunction to Uranus on the last degree (all-or-nothing) of Taurus, expecting a continuous roller coaster in the financial arena is the first thought with these two planets together. Jupiter in Cancer is a singleton, ruled by a peregrine Moon and with no other task (no planets making or receiving Ptolemaic aspects to/from it) than to watch the chaos unfold.

    Interestingly, all the planets except Pluto, are contained inside the lunar nodal axis, trapped between past and future. However, a move must be made, seems like our destiny is in our own hands, let’s use it wisely and not allow destruction to prevail.

    There are 7 planets in the Cardinal mode, 3 in the Fixed and none in Mutable, full steam ahead but in a one-way direction. The Elements have 6 planets in the Fire signs, 1 each in Water and Air and 2 in Earth, will having faith in a positive future be enough?

    The New Moon falls on the 1-7th axis (Aries-Libra): the I vs us, me vs you, assertion vs compromise, independence vs relationship etc. Also affected by this New Moon are those people with planets or angles in the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

    Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this “The Infant’s” Moon and he compares it to the “Fool” in the tarot deck, an innocent being eager to discover the world. He states that on this Moon “we begin things, we revisit our relationship with that state of utter faith and excitement of the grand unknown. Have we become too cynical for that kind of trust?”

    Sabian symbol for the Moon and Sun at 28° Aries: “A large audience confronts the performer who disappointed its expectations.” Indicating the necessity for mature preparation and self-criticism.

    For the antiscion at 03° Virgo: “Two guardian angels.” Indicating incredible help and protection in times of crisis.
