JUPITER IN LEO 29-30 JUNE 2026So many things can be said about the year we are now in. The outer planets have all moved and there has been the Saturn-Neptune conjunction. Jupiter was last in the sign of Leo from 16 July 2014 to 11 August 2015, its stay there was continuous with no back and fro between previous or subsequent signs. The same pattern will occur this time too with the ingress of Jupiter into Leo on 29-30 June and its departure on 26 July 2027.
What was happening in your life during the last transit of Jupiter in Leo?
As with all planets Jupiter too has a pattern of continuous stays and then cycles when the planet enters the adjacent signs to then re-enter the transited sign and these patterns are different for each planet. The patterns change according to whether the sign transited is long ascension (Cancer to Sagittarius) or short ascension (Capricorn to Gemini), with the exception of the sign of Leo which is long ascension but acts like the short ascension signs– he is the King after all so I suppose he can do as he pleases! Jupiter in Leo which is a long ascension sign is 3 cycles when the planet goes in and out between signs followed by 4 continuous stays in the sign transited. The total average stay of Jupiter in Leo (when continuous) is approximately 390 days.
Planets take on the nature of the sign transited and thus I believe that when a planet remains continuously in one sign for the whole length of its transit then it really gets to wallow in the qualities of that sign without having its energy fragmented by moving in and out of the adjacent signs. When a planet first enters a sign, we note the difference and often feel a surprise as the energy changes and then emerges. During the middle degrees of the transit, we learn how to cope with this now, no longer, new energy and in the late degrees the energy peaks and pulls out its final traits.
In the ingress chart set for London UK (07.32 BST Placidus) Jupiter, Mars and Uranus are all parallel, an explosive mix in any chart, the Sun is c// Pluto and the Moon is OOB. This is definitely a day when it’s best not to get involved in discussions of any kind (even if you do think you’re right) and it’s also probably advisable to avoid crowded places. Forewarned is forearmed as my Granny would say!
Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and there are more than 60 satellites or Moons orbiting around it, some of which have only been identified recently.
Alan Leo in his book “The Art of Synthesis” gave a sort of monicker to each of the planets and Jupiter was called “The Uplifter”
He suggested that Jupiter is related to the magnetic aura surrounding every living creature and thus the Earth signs relate to the physical or health aura, the psychic aura belonged to the Water signs, the mental aura to the Fire signs and the aura of the higher self to the Air signs.
He also stated that Jupiter is never an extreme but always a mean between extremes, a harmony keeper of sorts due in part to its governance of the two mutable signs Sagittarius and Pisces which are also double signs.
However, many of the Jupiterian characteristics come directly from the Greek god after whom the planet is named.
Jupiter is the English name for the Roman god Giove and the Greek god Zeus.
He was the only one of his siblings who was not swallowed whole at birth by his father Kronos or Saturn as we now know him. This was because his mother Rhea hid him and gave her husband a stone to swallow in his place. So, right from birth Jupiter was considered lucky and this trait is also one of the many attributed to Jupiter to this day.
He was raised on milk and honey by the nymphs into whose care his mother put him to hide him from his father. This happy childhood gave him the confidence that he could cope with whatever life threw at him. Another trait associated with the planet.
His first wife, called Metis, whose name means wisdom and prudence, was in fact quite a number and she drugged Saturn making him vomit and expel all of Jupiter’s siblings among which were Hades (modern-day Pluto) and Poseidon (modern-day Neptune). The three brothers divided the universe between them, Jupiter took the heavens and the dominion over the gods, Pluto the underworld and Neptune the kingdom of the seas and rivers. And from this we get the trait of generosity.
From his mountain top of Mount Olympus in the heavens, Jupiter hurled down thunder and lightning on his subjects giving the idea of Jupiterian superiority and being able to see and intuit what was going on. Another Jupiterian trait.
Jupiter was also continuously unfaithful as a husband. Fathering children from goddesses and mortals alike. More is better, another Jupiter feature!
Jupiter in Leo enjoys nighttime triplicity there so all in all he functions quite well.
Jupiter expands the qualities of the sign transited so here we can expect warm heartedness, indulgence and optimism and also a very strong sense of self.
Now with this in mind lets take a look at the aspects Jupiter will make to the outer planets during the stay in Leo.
The 20-21 July (and the weeks preceding and following these dates) will be very hectic on the mundane scene.
On the 20 July there will be a Jupiter trine Neptune R at 4°22’ Aries-Leo and only seven hours later a Jupiter opposition Pluto R at 4°26’ Leo-Aquarius followed the day after by a Jupiter sextile Uranus at 4°37’ Aries-Gemini.
This could bring idealisation of a public figure (Jupiter-Neptune) which might culminate in a huge success for this person (Jupiter-Pluto) or a clamorous downfall as the masses crave freedom from the old solutions that are no longer adequate (Jupiter-Uranus). This latter aspect repeats again on 23 December at 5°44’ when Uranus is retrograde so expect a return of rethinking or regrouping from the people. These new solutions might be implemented at the end of August when Jupiter trines Saturn at 13°41’ Aries-Leo and a slow and steady growth seems possible. There will also be a Solar eclipse along the Leo-Aquarius axis at 20°02’ Leo in August intensifying matters even more.
So, what was going on in the world the last time Jupiter was in Leo between 16 July 2014 to 11 August 2015? A lot of the events occurring during this time are relevant to the upcoming transit in Leo too:
Deal USA-Iran for Iran’s nuclear programme was signed
A refugee crisis hit Europe
Scotland voted to remain in the UK
Oil prices crashed
Ebola ran wild in West Africa
Russia annexes Crimea
War in Gaza
First Pluto flyby
So, as we can see little seems to have changed since then.
