• NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS 17 FEBRUARY 2026 AND ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE

  • New Moon in AquariusNEW MOON IN AQUARIUS AND ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE

…time to try something new even we don’t feel like it

There will be a New Moon and an annular Solar Eclipse (showing up as a ring of fire) at 28°50’ Aquarius, a fixed, Air sign (antiscion 01°20’ Scorpio). The eclipse will be visible however only in remote parts of Antarctica. The New Moon is the fifth of six New Moons on 28° of the relative signs.

This is the first of four Eclipses this year (2 solar and 2 lunar). Eclipses take place when the Sun, Moon and Earth find themselves closely aligned.

The effects of eclipses can be quite unpredictable (a “what-the-heck effect”), sometimes stressing emotions or bringing unexpected events into our lives, at other times they can go seemingly unnoticed. Some astrologers say that the effects of the eclipses manifest for as long as the duration of the eclipse itself, transmuting the minutes of the duration into days. Although of different Saros series, eclipses occur at similar degrees of the same sign in 19-year cycles as they move in a retrograde motion through the zodiac. Thus, they have effect on the same house polarity in your natal chart (or on any personal planets or angles that fall in a 2°30’ orb for conjunctions, 2° for oppositions, allowing 5° if Sun or Moon is involved).

The last Solar Eclipse near the degree of the present one took place at 27° Aquarius on 15 February 2018 (of a different Saros series and not respecting the 19-year gap between eclipses on similar degrees).

what was going on in your life then?

This Eclipse belongs to the Saros series 10 North. To which Bernadette Brady attributes a strong emphasis on communication possibly bringing frustrating or inhibiting events into our lives as well as a feeling of tiredness.

The New Moon/Solar Eclipse is square to Uranus in Taurus, the modern ruler of Aquarius and the visionary of the zodiac. Saturn, in Aries, the traditional ruler of Aquarius, is in a tight, yet not quite exact conjunction with Neptune on the very beginning degree of the sign. The eclipse makes no further aspects to the lunation chart.

Very important however are two facts: the first is that Venus, exalted in Pisces is conjunct North Lunar node and also on the same degree as the nodal axis making it an important player in this eclipse chart, Venus is applying a wide trine aspect to Jupiter R in Cancer, this latter being c// Pluto, perhaps goals are far-reaching and just too ambitious or there might be something going on in the financial markets (an implosion of sorts)? The second interesting factor is that the true nodal axis (I don’t use mean node calculations) is stationary making this a very important lunation/eclipse for our future (North node is ruled by Jupiter R, exalted in Cancer and South Node is ruled by Mercury in detriment and fall in Pisces) this could of course involved communications, travel, laws etc. With 4 planets in Aquarius (New Moon, Mars and Pluto) we can perhaps expect challenging or ambitious social reform to be imminent brought about by unexpected financial manoeuvres which could take place in the week preceding the lunation/eclipse since the New Moon is separating from a square to Uranus. Uranus will have actually activated the Eclipse point throughout December last year.

Some of the events that happened last December worldwide:

In Australia the law banning use of social media to under 16’s was applied.

Price of gold skyrockets to max high.

Huge protests in Iran about inflation and cost of daily living.

Danish postal service stops delivering letters.

Under channel trains between UK and France are suspended for 24 hours due to sudden power failure.

New Moons are excellent moments to do a reality check, asking ourselves where we are at the present moment in time and where we would like to go, particularly regarding the matters of the house where the New Moon falls in your chart and thus set our relative intentions for the month ahead.

The New Moon falls on the 11th-5th house axis in traditional astrology; participating in groups vs individual creations, democrats vs autocrats, scientists vs artists etc. This lunation/eclipse gives us the opportunity to really consider the house axis where they fall in our chart as well as any of the personal planets or angles between 25-29° of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius that they may touched in our natal chart.

A lunation along this house axis might be used to release emotional attachments that restrict our freedom in some way and it also reminds us that we are not alone and that by involving ourselves with others we can change our world. Another point to consider during this Moon phase might be how to strengthen your network of friends (11th house) as you reflect on your own unique talents (5th house).

Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this the

    Father’s Son Moon

He suggests that all New Moon archetypes are children and youths and, as such, that there is a youthful quality to their emotional natures. Thus, the Father’s Son represents the Golden Boy, being the father’s heir and hope. On this New Moon, Kaldera suggests that we examine our feelings about our own personal father (or mother if she was career-minded or externally orientated instead of concentrating on the home). Or we could look at our attitudes concerning the “Fathers of Society” and how “their” rules and regulations have or have not any value for us at this present time. However, if we are at unease with these guidelines, we might ask ourselves whether we have had or have the courage to openly disclaim them or if it pays us in some way (and which way) to follow them blindly.

The Sabian symbol for 29° Aquarius: “A butterfly emerging from a chrysalis.” Indicating the capacity to utterly transform the character of one’s consciousness by radically altering the structural patterns of everyday living and the types of relationships one enters upon.

And for its antiscion point at 2° Scorpio: “A delicate bottle of perfume lies broken, releasing its fragrance.” Indicating the accidental nature of opportunities that impel one to break away from a past, the remembrance of which is still poignant and cherished.

“Static people love to compensate for their inability to change themselves by always trying to change the world.” Criss Jami, Healology

What are your intentions for this New Moon?
