URANUS STATIONS DIRECT
and the unexpected becomes manifest….
Uranus ends his yearly, five-month retrograde period at 23°15’ Taurus (antiscion 06°45’ Leo). Slowly picking up speed, on the 6-7 July this year Uranus will make a brief and tentative entrance into the sign of Gemini, remaining there until 7-8 November when the retrograde period will take the planet back into Taurus until 25-26 April 2026 after which Uranus will permanently enter the sign of Gemini for approximately seven years – but that’s another story!
So, what might we expect by taking Uranus at face-value in Taurus now that it is about to move direct once more?
On a mundane level, the disruption and innovation of monetary values as we now know them – Bitcoin or virtual money, already validated by the upcoming new US president, with the implication of having less cash around and thus less freedom to spend our money without being controlled electronically and thus our spending habits will more easily traceable by governmental authorities. A completely new way of managing farming and food production may come to be – using technology to improve our nutrition, finding new ways to feed ourselves and abandoning intensive and expensive farming practices that provide meat and fish as we turn to new sources of protein that cost less to rear (and are more abundant) – insects for example. Volcanic and seismic activity may be intensified as the earth shakes and quivers making us more aware of our precarious state of being, the recent earthquake in south-west China to mention one of the most recent. Our physical body is also our most precious possession so here too we may find new ways to dress, adorn and generally take care of ourselves that free us of the stereotypes we now follow. Who knows…what is important I believe is that we open up to the new and not yet tried out. Particularly now that Pluto has moved into the innovative and experimental sign of Aquarius.
On a personal level we must look to the house where Uranus is currently transiting and to the house it resides in our natal chart as well as the house it rules…this is where the collective changes will filter down into the personal.
The retrograde period could have provided some kind of respite and put you more in contact with your soul purpose and your needs for personal freedom and expression…a time of processing that allowed you to regroup and assimilate changes that might have appeared suddenly and that were sometimes unwanted or seemingly unnecessary and often painful. There may have been a gleaning of new insights that might have helped you reform certain attitudes and patterns of which you were previously unaware so that you can correct them without too much upset or confusion.
Some keywords that might be associated with Taurus are: stubborn, practical, enduring, patient, placid and steadfast. Taurus is associated with the 2nd house in traditional astrology and so closely connected with our assets, values and self-esteem. Taurus also regards tactile sensations, bodily needs, food and farming among other things.
Uranus on the other hand can be described as inventive, innovative, eccentric, unpredictable, reactive, mental and restless. It rules inventors, technicians, research, rebellion, freedom and democracy (for some it also rules astrologers having overridden its younger brother Mercury in this).
Now I imagine you can understand why Uranus may not be at all comfy in Taurus.
The last time Uranus was in this earthy sign was 1934-35 to 1941-2 covering the latter part of the great depression and the first half of WWII.
Astrologer Bil Tierney* has the following to say:
“Uranus with its equatorial plane at right angles to its orbital plane is an odd-ball in our solar system and appears to roll on its side as it moves around the Sun.”
Uranus represents revolution and change as well as the need to be free and independent, above all from responsibility. He governs science and technology as well as astrology. The planet also lends an “aloof” feeling or impression to any planets it aspects.
As with all Uranus transits we might want to ask ourselves one of the following questions:
How can I prepare for unexpected and sudden events related to this house (and planet if Uranus is in aspect to any personal planet or angle)?
How do I cope with the unexpected?
How do I live with instability in this area of my life?
And
How may I use the energy of Uranus to my best advantage in accordance with my own values, aims and ideals?
The Sabian symbol for 24° Taurus: “An Indian warrior riding fiercely, human scalps hanging from his belt.” Indicating the aggressiveness of human instincts when fighting for their earthly base of operation.
And for the antiscion at 07° Leo: “The constellations of stars shine brilliantly in the night sky.” Indicating the power of basic spiritual values which refer to man’s common humanity and to all enduring archetypes.
“If you can’t be flexible in life, you become irritable with life.” Anonymous
