SATURN STATIONS DIRECT
time to move forward with decision leaving the past behind…
Saturn will end its annual retrograde period on the 22-23rd of October (depending in which part of the world you are) stationing direct at 18°35’ Aquarius (antiscion 11°25’ Scorpio). This is the third planet to turn direct this month after Mercury and Pluto.
On the 23rd of October and only a few days before stationing retrograde, Mars will go OOB and will trine Saturn on the 28th of November at 19°42’. The planet will remain OOB until 3rd May 2023.
Let’s recap a little about what Saturn in Aquarius might mean (from one of my previous articles posted in 2020):
“In Aquarius, Saturn is more about looking forward to see how structures might be rebuilt using new techniques in order to improve upon the old-and-known. Saturn in Aquarius still desires success and acknowledgement but the need for approval from others is less marked and not so much the all-or-nothing of the Capricorn placement. Saturn here, however, could find difficulty opening up and expanding boundaries. This new energy is a more apologetic version of Saturnian demands, saying sorry comes easier and is part of the parcel.
With Saturn transiting the social and humanitarian sign of Aquarius we could see more tolerance towards those and that which is different, accepting that “right and correct” may come in various formats and give the same results. Part of this attitude is due to the fact that Saturn in gregarious Aquarius may have an innate fear of loneliness and instead of taking an “all for me” stance could manifest in generously giving to others in order to feel part of the clan. Concepts and ideas will be more important than the factual and the material, a new order of “order” will come to be and will develop in a completely different way from the one already known and practised.
New rules may be made for the good of the collective rather than the good of a small part of society.
There will be much more use of technologies in all facets of our lives, thus making certain aspects of everyday life easier but submitting personal freedom to stricter controls in the name of collective security.
Probably the entry of Saturn in a sign of Aria will cause the dark clothes and rigorous attire to resign giving place to brighter colors in our attire, and we will also get used to dressing in a sporty or casual way (perhaps due to the lack of social occasions and a more “homely” life).
We could well be, and hopefully so, on the brink of a new collective awareness of our world and we might find that this present “old and known” structure no longer fits in with our new direction as a new consciousness of altruism replaces the egoistic structures that have been in place for so long.
Huge social changes are at hand if we have the courage to grasp and trigger and follow up on them.”
Now that Saturn is half-way through its journey in Aquarius can we tick off any of the above boxes?
During this retrograde you will indeed have had the opportunity to renegotiate and review any past activities or commitments that have been a source of frustration for you. Having had a chance to tie up loose ends and finish uncompleted tasks in the matters of the house it is transiting in as well as perhaps having said “NO” to others if this meant a big “YES” for you!
Contemporary American astrologer, Noel Tyl, writes that the Saturn retrograde is a pause for responsibility, there is a disruption in what ideally is expected in the development process, with a sense of incompleteness.
This certainly hasn’t been the best period for embarking on new endeavours that require time and long commitment but now all this is changing as the planet slowly revs up to his normal speed.
It’s an old astrological saying that if you take care of Saturn in your chart, the rest of your chart will take care of itself. This means that if you are able to grasp the lessons of Saturn—its sign, its house placement and the house it rules then you will have the basis for understanding your whole natal chart. It is also believed that Saturn transits get “easier to handle” with age.
The Sabian symbol for 19° Aquarius: “A forest fire is being subdued by the use of water, chemicals and sheer muscular energy.” Indicating the skill and courage necessary to bring under control the destructive potential of carelessness of karmic visitations.
For the antiscion at 12° Scorpio: “A official embassy ball.” Indicating group-consciousness, as it flowers at the highest level in cultural interchanges between representatives of the elite of the ruling class.
“You must welcome change as the rule but not as your ruler.” Denis Waitley
