    the mooniest Moon….

On 13-14 January there will be an OOB Full Moon at 23°59’ Cancer (antiscion 6°01’ Gemini), nurturing qualities could be at their best or, on the contrary, at their worst.

Full Moons are when matters climax, they are “now or never” moments regarding any projects we have initiated or intentions we have set at the preceding New Moon fourteen days ago.

The OOB Moon is applying a conjunction to a retrograde OOB Mars which is also running to meet the Moon. Moon is in dignity in its own sign, Mars is in triplicity (Ptolemy) and also in fall in the sign of Cancer, quite a malevolent Mars given the OOB and retrograde status. Full Moons are when the Moon and the Sun are in opposition to each other, our heads and our hearts are rather at odds or if we want to take the Moon as the people and the Sun as our leaders then we can say that a compromise would need to be found between the two. Unfortunately, the Sun in Capricorn has only minor dignity by face, it’s not very strong. The Moon, strong, OOB and conjunct OOB Mars R are each in conjunction with a Fixed Star. In the case of the Moon this is Pollux of the nature of Mars according to Ptolemy and also known as the “heartless judge” and connected to assassinations. Mars is conjunct the Fixed Star Procyon of the nature of Mars and Mercury according to Ptolemy and associated with cruelty and violence. Seems to me that some people could be on the warpath against their leaders and will be moving in haste and without thinking too much about the consequences. Especially so since the lunation chart has only two planets in the Fixed Modality which doesn’t lend staying power to any actions brought forth under the Full Moon. There are also no planets in the Fire element in this lunation chart indicating a lack of faith about how things could turn out for the better whilst putting a lot of fantasy into whatever is undertaken (Moon-Mars trine Neptune and sextile Uranus).

All the above may be more evident in countries where a new president will soon be inaugurated or where elections are about to take place.

The Sun is also sextile Neptune and trine Uranus, both lights have the same opportunity to make dreams come true through daring. Saturn, dispositor of the Sun, peregrine in Pisces and now separating from the ongoing square from Jupiter is more or less unable to operate in its usual disciplinary role.

This Full Moon falls on the traditional 10th-4th axis, work vs home, public vs private, one parent vs another, rigidity vs flexibility etc. It will have major impact on those with planets or angles between 21-27° of the Cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra, Capricorn and Aries

In his book “Moon Phase Astrology”, author Raven Kaldera calls this the “Sea Mother’s Moon”, he recognizes it as a capricious Moon that contemporarily loves and loathes.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 24° Cancer: “A woman and two men castaways on a small island in the south seas.” Indicating the focalisation of complex inner potentialities in harmonic and concrete relationships.

For the antiscion at 07° Gemini: “A well with bucket and rope under the shade of the majestic trees.” Indicating man’s primordial faith in the hidden sustaining power of life.

For the Sun at 24° Capricorn: “A woman entering a convent.” Indicating total commitment to a transcendent goal.

“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.”  Eleanor Roosevelt
