There will be a New Moon at 8°15’ Libra on the 1st of October. This is the first of a series of five New Moons at 8° of their respective signs.

Being in Libra, this will be all about relationships and fairness. And, being a New Moon of course it could be the start of a new relationship for some or a new beginning in an existing relationship for others but it could also be about any kind of relationship depending on the house where it falls in your chart and the aspect it may or may not make to any personal planets or angles. It could also be a good time to see things from the other person’s point of view, not only what might be missing from the relationship for it to be good for you but also about what you’re bringing to the relationship too…remember, Libra is about fairness and harmony. Although with Libra’s ruler, Venus, now transiting passionate and deep Scorpio, some relationships could get very intense in more ways than one! The New Moon occurs just after both luminaries have conjoined and passed Jupiter (newly arrived in Libra) and this could lend much needed optimism to relationships matters, provided of course that we don’t go overboard with our enthusiasm. Neptune (the higher octave of Venus) is also in a tricky quincunx aspect to the lunar phase and in a trine aspect to Venus reminding us that sometimes we can suffer delusion in love but that every experience is in fact a precious lesson for us along our soul path.

In traditional astrology this New Moon falls on the 7th-1st house axis which is about relating to others on a personal basis versus relating to self and trying to find the right balance between the two (which is also about Libra too).

Author, Raven Kaldera, in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this Moon the “White Knight’s Moon” and describes it as putting the focus on justice and discerning right from wrong and according to him this Moon is a great time to examine our ideals and adjust them if necessary.

The Sabian symbol for 9° Libra: “Three “old Masters” hanging on the wall of a special room in an art gallery.” Indicating the need to return to source during a confused search for new value in a chaotic society.

And, since Libra is also the sign of indecision and trying to please:

“Those are my principles. If you don’t like them, I have others.” Grouch Marx
