  • New Moon in LeoNEW MOON IN LEO

A time to shine but not for all…..

There will be a New Moon at 05°38’ Leo on the 28th of July (antiscion 24°22’ Taurus). This New Moon is OOB and will be squaring the Solar Eclipse at 10° Taurus which took place in April and will thus activate it. Here’s what I wrote at the time:

This particular Eclipse belongs to the 6 North Saros series and Brady describes this as follows: “This eclipse family is concerned with the individual’s relationship to father figures, authority figures or the need to take responsibility and control.”

The above description seems to tie in well with this New Moon in Leo too.

As already mentioned above, this Moon is OOB, parallel Venus and both are c/parallel Pluto. Interestingly, Pluto is also the lead planet in the chart’s locomotive pattern lending a power-driven force to the whole chart, the Moon-Venus parallel may boost our spirits but we still have to contend with the c/parallel to Pluto that will certainly add drama in some way to this lunation.

Only the Sun is not involved in parallel or c/parallel aspects in the lunation chart. Mercury//Uranus (thinking outside the box or sudden movement which could lead to accidents), Mars c//Saturn (a road-block of some kind or someone who tries to obstacle us) and Jupiter c// Neptune (this aspect could indicate that we are seeing things in a far too optimistic manner).

Mercury, still under the sunbeams, is separating from a recent square to Mars, applying a very tight square to Uranus and an opposition to Saturn R. Harsh words when not quarrels might lead to upsetting events that could make us regret our decisions.

The Modalities are heavily Fixed (6 planets) with only Neptune in the Mutable signs, another hint that we are stuck and unable to move forward. The Elements have only Saturn in the Air signs, planning ahead seems arduous at the least.

New Moons are times when the Sun and Moon are conjoined in the identical degree of the same sign and this causes the Moon to remain hidden from our view.

It’s a great moment to set intentions for the coming month regarding the matters of the house where it falls in our natal chart. New Moons can be seen as moments of “seeding”.

The Moon in Leo finds itself on the 5-11th axis in the traditional zodiac wheel (Leo-Aquarius), so, me vs them, warm-hearted vs unemotional, artist vs scientist etc.

In his book “Moon Phase Astrology”, author Raven Kaldera describes this moon as the

    “Sun Child’s Moon”

a creature of smiling, radiant light. The people born under this moon phase in Leo have a tremendous zest for life and love to be looked at, making people gasp and drop their jaws as they charm the pants off them!

During the Sun Child’s Moon he invites us to concentrate on our own creativity in any endeavour we might undertake since this is a good time to shine, even if you’re not used to the limelight, or to feel special to others in some way.

A Leo New Moon imbues us with optimism in the house in which it occurs in our natal theme bestowing a desire to be recognised and feel special in some way regarding the affairs of that house with Leo on the cusp.

If the lunation makes an aspect to a planet in our natal chart then that planetary energy is awakened and energized and intentions should be related to that planet, sign and house. If we consciously choose to harness the power of the New Moon and the energy of any planet it aspects (tight orbs no more than 2°) we become capable of noteworthy new beginnings in that area of our life. It will most involve those people with planets/angles between 3-8° of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.

The Sabian symbol for the Sun and Moon at 6° Leo: “A conservative, old-fashioned lady is confronted by a “hippy” girl.” Indicating the need to transcend our subservience to fashion, in morals as well as in clothes.

For the antiscion point at 25° Taurus: “A vast public park.” Indicating the cultivation of natural energies for collective use and recreation.

“Better to illuminate than merely to shine, to deliver to others contemplated truths than merely to contemplate.” Thomas Aquinas

What are your intentions for this New Moon?
