……planetary rendezvous in Cancer and heads up for spill-over!
On the 4th of July there will be a New Moon at 12°54’ in the sign of Cancer.
New Moons are the moment we set our intentions for the month ahead regarding the house where the New Moon falls in our chart but we now have four of the ten planets transiting in this sign making it a very emotionally energetic period particularly for the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phases” calls this the “Daughter’s Moon” and likens it to the myth of Demeter and her daughter Persephone who was abducted into the Underworld by Hades (Pluto). He therefore attributes painful conflicts with family members to this and all the other Cancer moon phases and on this Moon he recommends that we examine our relationships with close ones, especially those which involve nurturing received or given.
It falls on the 4th-10th house axis in traditional astrology, the private vs public, mother vs father, fluidity vs rigidity etc.
As I mentioned previously, together with the Sun and Moon in Cancer we also have Mercury in a tight conjunction and Venus in a looser one as she heads for the sign of Leo, we should be thinking and talking about our feelings and what we most value.
Neptune retrograde is in Pisces and conjunct the Moon’s South Node and Chiron whilst Mars has just turned direct in Scorpio and is still in quincunx to Uranus in Aries.
That makes for a lot of planets in the Water signs giving emotions top priority for the coming fortnight and beyond. As I mentioned in my earlier article about Mars turning direct in Scorpio and its contact with Uranus this could bring a whole new meaning to the word “rage” and “violence”. We already have proof of this in recent violent attacks on people around the world.
The people most affected by this New Moon will be those with planets or angles in the mid-degrees of the Cardinal signs.
I would like to add a word of caution also to those with planets or angles in the mid-degrees of the Mutable signs. Who could be involved by planets (particularly the Moon) transiting in the signs of Gemini and Virgo which will impinge on the Saturn-Neptune square now in act in Sagittarius and Pisces respectively and don’t forget that Jupiter in Virgo forms a T-square with these two former planets so the transiting planets, particularly in Gemini will “fill-in” the empty leg of a Grand Cross making for very volatile energy.
The Sabian symbol for 13° Cancer: “A hand with a prominent thumb is held out for study” indicating the power of will in shaping character.
