Are we ready for a new normal?

Less than 20 hours after the Spring Equinox we have the first New Moon of the astrological year at 0°49’ of Aries (antiscion 29°21’ Virgo).

The New Moon falls on the 1-7th axis (Aries-Libra) in traditional astrology: the I vs us, me vs you, assertion vs compromise, independence vs relationship etc. Also affected by this New Moon are those people with planets or angles in the early degrees of the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

The New Moon is ruled by an OOB Mars in the final degrees of its too lengthy stay in Gemini and is in a loose applying quincunx to Pluto on the final and anaretic degree of the sign of Capricorn. A lot of mental energy needing to be applied to the final fallout of the long Pluto stay in Capricorn during which tried and testing institutions crumbled and fell around us – the most recent being the insolvency of the Silicon Valley Bank. This quincunx has an 8th house flavour to it and thus impacts once again the end of one thing and the start of another which will be completely different.

There is a preponderance of Earth and Fire in the Elements of the New Moon chart together with a decided swing towards the Cardinal modality. Can intuition (Fire) blend with practicality (Earth) and get us moving (Cardinal) on the right track? How many times have we asked ourselves this question over the recent years?

Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this “The Infant’s” Moon and he compares it to the “Fool” in the tarot deck, an innocent being eager to discover the world. He states that on this Moon “we begin things, we revisit our relationship with that state of utter faith and excitement of the grand unknown. Have we become too cynical for that kind of trust?”

Sabian symbol for 01° Aries: “A woman just risen from the sea, a seal is embracing her.” Indicating the emergence of new forms and of the potentiality of consciousness.

For the antiscion at 30° Virgo: “Totally intent upon completing an immediate task, a man is deaf to any allurement.” Indicating the total concentration required for any spiritual goal.

“Tough times don’t last. Tough people do.” Julian Edelman
