MARS IS OUT OF BOUNDS (OOB) FROM 15TH MAY TO 20TH JUNE 2017

So, what does it mean for a planet to be OOB? When we cast an astrological chart we use a precise locality (birth place) on the earth and from this observation point we take note of the position of the planets in the sky at the time of birth and this enables us to calculate the angles that the planets form to the given locality. Another point of reference however is the celestial equator (which is the terrestrial equator elongated into space). When planets travel beyond 23°27’ either side of the celestial equator, be it North or South, they are referred to as “out of bounds”.

OOB planets can also be found in birth charts and special attention should be paid to them since they are considered “stronger”.

Back to Mars.

On the 15^th of May the fiery planet of action will find itself at 16° Gemini and will start its adventure into the wild beyond as it enters 23°28’ of declination North. The OOB period will last until 30^th June when Mars will be at 17° Cancer reaching its maximum elongation at 24°20’ North on 17^th June at 8° Cancer.

OOB planets are a bit like “wild cards” you never really know how they will react.

Let’s briefly recap: Mars in Gemini on a positive note denotes the ability to get out more or less unscathed of any tricky situation having nervous energy to sell and of course, the gift of gab. It also has an excellent mental and physical drive.

On the downside it can become very argumentative, holding on to its own opinions over everyone else’s often using sarcasm in the process. It also has the urge to act without thinking thus becoming accident-prone.

Mars in Cancer is known to be fiercely protective of its family and loved ones and for being able to put a tremendous amount of energy into the home environment.

It’s also known for its passive-aggressive approach to problems and its touchy, over-defensiveness when it feels threatened. Mars is in its own triplicity but also in its fall in Cancer.

People most affected by this OOB planet will be those having planets or angles between 15° Gemini and 18° Cancer and relative aspect points in the Mutable and Cardinal signs.
