• FULL MOON IN SCORPIO ON APRIL 22ND 2016 (GMT)

  • full-moon-300x225On April 22nd there will be a Full Moon at 2°03’ in the Fixed, Water sign of Scorpio.

Full Moons are also known to be times when things climax, when we decide that enough is enough for certain aspects of our life because we avert an intensified conflict between two major areas of our life and we need to find a way to honour both.

They shine a light on the area that is “hidden” and in this case, in traditional astrology, all matters concerning the 8th house (sex, joint finances, taxes, occult, psyche) and the sign of Scorpio. The axis involved is the 2nd-8th and involves questions such as: the constructor vs the saboteur, security vs temptation, calm vs emotional crisis etc. Taurus is the first Earth sign and he wants to build, Scorpio is the second Water sign and wants to destroy in the attempt to understand and regenerate.

The effect is certainly more evident when the Full Moon closely aspects any personal planets or angles in your chart (2-4° of the fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius), it also depends on the houses involved in your individual chart.

Author Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this Full Moon the “Priestess’s Moon” he continues in his explanation “the Priestess has been down to the darkness and up again into the light.  She has dragged herself down the path of deep introspection and learned that the best way out is with the aid of Deeper Powers” On this Full Moon he recommends spirituality and meditation and failing that to surround yourself with Nature and contemplate the beauty of it all.

I suggest that we use the light of this Full Moon to illuminate where we can create more comfort and ease in our lives relinquishing those things (or persons) that no longer make us smile. Let’s search for our own personal pot of gold by digging deep inside ourselves to find what we really need in life to feel good.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 3° Scorpio “A house-raising party in a small village enlists the neighbours’ cooperation” indicating the feeling of community demonstrated in a basic joint effort.

For the Sun at 3° Taurus “Natural steps lead to a lawn of clover in bloom” indicating the gradual expansion of the individual consciousness after a fecundating experience.

I believe that this Full Moon in Scorpio is so apt. It occurs just less than a week after the stationing retrograde of the two rulers of this sign, Mars now transiting in Sagittarius and Pluto journeying through Capricorn. A further invitation from the Universe to dig down deep inside ourselves particularly in those areas of our chart with Scorpio on the cusp or with personal planets in Scorpio.

At the time of this lunation the mutable T-square which was prominent during the recent Aries New Moon earlier this month is still active and will remain so until mid-May. This aspect involves Mars and Saturn in Sagittarius (both retrograde), Jupiter in Virgo (retrograde) and Neptune in Pisces. So let’s try to be realistic with an eye to the future, motivated but flexible. The house of our chart with Gemini on the cusp where the empty leg of this T-square is to be found will show us the way to manifest this energy.

“Wherever we may come alive, that is the area in which we are spiritual” D. Steindl-Rast

What’s peaking for you on this Full Moon? Where do you need to dig deeper?
