There will be a New Moon at 23°14’ in the sign of Cancer on the 16th of July. Do you have any planets or angles at or in aspect to that degree? Which house is the New Moon falling in in your chart?
According to Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” the New Moon in Cancer is known as the “Mother’s Daughter Moon”.
Under this moon we are invited to examine our relationships with our closest, especially bonds that are nurturing as for example the Mother/Daughter connection, with the intention of learning or understanding how we can differentiate this relationship, raise it to a new level perhaps even considering how we could go about “cutting the umbilical cord” if you wish and if we have not already done so.
The New Moon in Cancer has the flavour of the 4th-10th house axis in traditional astrology; the intimate vs the public, home vs work, flexibility vs rigidity etc., making us feel the need to “cling” to the familiar, caring for our loved ones and feeling nurtured by them in return, so it’s definitely not the time to retreat into one of the famous Cancerian moods!! Rather it’s a time when we should tune into our feelings, getting sentimental with a focus on our family and a respect for the feelings of other people.
Mercury and Mars (retrograde) are both in Cancer now and conjunct, so the Moon will have passed over both these planets the day before the New Moon thus gaining intensity from this contact and adding impetus to the fresh beginnings that New Moons are said to herald.
