OOB NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS ON 30 NOVEMBER-01 DECEMBER 2024
……the troubles don’t seem to be over although some may still hope
There will be a OOB New Moon at 09°33’ of Sagittarius (antiscion 20°27’ Capricorn). This is the second New Moon at 9° of five at that degree of the relative ensuing signs.
On New Moons we set our intentions for the month ahead and this one in particular offers the Sagittarian perspective on our destiny and our relationship with the universe.
The New Moon is conjunct Fixed Star Antares, a cycle is ending and it’s time to move on.
Dispositor of this lunation is Jupiter retrograde in Gemini opposite Mercury retrograde, the base of a Mutable T-square with a Saturn apex. The highly scattered nervous energy of the separating Mercury-Jupiter opposition with the penchant for talking out of the top of our heads clashes with the need for some kind of boundaries that a peregrine Saturn in Pisces finds hard to impose. The New Moon itself is part of Grand Fire Trine involving Mars and North Node, it seems like the people and the leaders are both demanding attention in an attempt to move forward towards a future that can only be created by themselves (North Node ruled by Mars). Remember that on New Moons the Moon is combust (that is burnt by the Sun) and thus weakened, Moon is also OOB which renders it out of control and non-conformant to the normal nurturing ways of this planet which could cause it to run havoc and be mean.
Venus too is OOB and in an applying trine to Uranus retrograde in Taurus. Are our values and our finances being thrown to the wind?
Furthermore, Mars is c// Sun (conflicts abound), Sun is c//Jupiter (this could also lead to conflict by being too sure of our own opinions and disagreeing with those who think or believe otherwise), Mercury R//Pluto (swaying others to your way of thinking or obsessively searching for the truth).
With 6 planets in the Mutable signs, things are moving on but without having a precise plan for the future or knowing where we are heading (only one planet in the Air signs).
The New Moon is on the 9th-3rd (Sagittarius-Gemini) axis of the traditional zodiac and involves such matters as seeing the whole picture vs only having scattered information, intuition vs reason, long vs short journeys, morality vs amorality, wisdom vs knowledge etc.
Sagittarius is a Fire sign and Gemini is an Air sign yet they both belong to the Mutable modality in which flexibility is the key word. Sagittarius deals with more intuitive and abstract thought processes whilst Gemini has a more analytical and concrete view of the world. Both signs and the houses they are associated with are involved with learning and teaching but from different perspectives.
In his book “Moon Phase Astrology” author Raven Kaldera calls this Moon “the Gypsy’s Moon”. On this Moon he invites us to go out and experience new cultures and ideas, with the aim of stretching our abilities to accept all things foreign in order to challenge ourselves and our own prejudices. What better way to do this than travelling which can provide excellent points of view upon which to reflect when the journey is over. So, rather than just reading about new places it would be better to experience these in person on your own skin so as to say.
Particularly interested in this New Moon will be those persons with planets or angles between 6-12° of the mutable signs (Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini and Virgo) and on the antiscion point of 20°27’ Capricorn.
The Sabian symbol for 10° Sagittarius: “A theatrical representation of a golden-haired goddess of opportunity.” Indicating society’s efforts at dramatizing the greatness of what it offers to the ambitious person.
For the antiscion at 21° Capricorn: “A relay race.” Indicating the value of competition in developing group-consciousness.
On this New Moon our motto could be:
But I suppose the most revolutionary act one can engage in is… to tell the truth.”
Howard Zinn, Marx in Soho: A Play on History
