OOB NEW MOON IN CANCER
emotionally intense…….
The New Moon will occur at 24°56’ Cancer, a Cardinal, Water sign, ruled by the Moon (the Mooniest Moon). The antiscion point is 05°04’ Gemini.
A New Moon in Cancer puts the accent on home, family and our sense of belonging. This New Moon reaches out to a new beginning. However, the applying opposition to Pluto R in Capricorn together with the applying trine to Neptune R in Pisces and the separating sextile to Uranus seem to hint at the need to tackle any emotional and/or egoistical problems that might bubble up in a not-so-subtle way (opposition to Pluto R) whilst we’re convinced that everything’s okeydokey (trine to Neptune R). The sextile to Uranus may have been a blessing in disguise giving us the opportunity to see things in a totally different light and allowing us to be at least prepared for the hustle to come and even providing us with an escape route.
In this lunation chart, Mars is applying an opposition to Saturn R inviting us to slow down and regroup especially with Mercury separating from a square to Jupiter, a time when we might have been talking too loudly and too much.
With no planets in the Air signs in this chart we have difficulty seeing and actuating the plan or the road ahead but we are emotionally grounded (4 planets each in Earth and Water) and the Modalities are also well-balanced.
New Moons are the moment we set our intentions for the month ahead regarding the house where the New Moon falls in our chart in particular for the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn (22-27°).
Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phases” calls this the “Daughter’s Moon” and likens it to the myth of Demeter and her daughter Persephone who was abducted into the Underworld by Hades (Pluto). He therefore attributes painful conflicts with family members to this and all the other Cancer moon phases and on this Moon he recommends that we examine our relationships with close ones, especially those which involve nurturing received or given.
It falls on the 4th-10th house axis in traditional astrology, the private vs public, mother vs father, fluidity vs rigidity etc.
The Sabian symbol for 25° Cancer: “A willful man is overshadowed by a descent of superior power.” Indicating the response of spiritual forces to the integration of personality through positive willful endeavours.
For the antiscion at 6° Gemini: “Workmen drilling for oil.” Indicating the avidity for that knowledge which ensures wealth and power.
“She held herself until the sobs of the child inside subsided entirely. I love you, she told herself. It will all be okay.” H. Raven Rose, Shadow Selves: Double Happiness
